Kangana Ranaut Starrer Thalaivi Producers Held Special Screenings For Tamil, Telugu, And Hindi Film Industry Members Ahead Of Worldwide Release

Mumbai, September 7, 2021: Kangana Ranaut starrer Thalaivi is all set to release in theaters this Friday, September 10. Thalaivi is a multilingual biographical drama film based on the life of J. Jayalalithaa, an actress and politician who served six times as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. ## Kangana, who plays Jayalalithaa in the movie, called this biopic the best film of her career so far and is confident that it will bring the audiences back to theaters. Kangana wrote in an Instagram story, "What a gratifying experience to watch Thalaivii, the best film of my career so far. Thalaivii is a theatrical experience, hopefully Hindi multiplexes will also play it. I am confident that it will bring audiences back to theatres". ## Meanwhile, Thalaivi producers Vishnu Vardhan Induri and Shaailesh R Singh are holding a special screening for the film industry members back-to-back, showing confidence in their movie. They held a screening of the biopic for members of the Chennai film industry on Saturday (September 4) and another screening for the Hyderabad industry on Sunday (September 5). ## Not only for Tamil and Telugu industry members, but Thalaivii producers are also holding multiple screenings for the Hindi film industry members from Monday onwards. Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri Urged Bollywood Leaders To Stand Up And Fight For The Survival Of Cinemas

Mumbai, September 6, 2021: National award-winning filmmaker, Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri has penned down a hard-hitting note to the Bollywood leaders, who remain silent as cinemas are closed in Maharashtra. The Tashkent Files director, in an open letter, urged Bollywood leaders to stand up and ensure that government listens and opens up cinemas. ## Theaters in Maharashtra are closed since April 2021, even though, most of the States have allowed theaters to operate. Vivek Agnihotri, in his letter, highlights the unjustified closure of cinema halls in the biggest movie market for Hindi films. He also mentioned that because of the silence of B-towners and the rise of OTTs, the Hindi film industry is going through an existential crisis. ## The filmmaker note down key points, referring to Bollywood artists and filmmakers, as follows - ## 1. You have earned hundreds of crores from your films which released in theaters.## 2. You have earned hundreds of crores because people paid for your movies.## 3. You are leader because you earned hundreds of crore and have a clout, experience, money and power.## 4. You can not just keep the perks of being a leader/star and keep quiet when there is a crisis. You know Bollywood is also the soft power of India.## 5. You know that Bollywood going through an existential crisis for three reasons: a] Locked theaters b] OTTs, and c] Public anger towards you.## 6. Imagine you are a big corporation and your brand faces the same situation. Will you go in hiding and wait for the situation to improve or you will firefight it?## 7. You haven't done anything except for keeping quiet and let destiny take its course. The general assumption in the industry is that people are dumb and they will again fall at the feet of the stars or at the box office as soon as movies release again. Keeping the trend going, producers, Bhushan Kumar and Murad Khetani recently announced the Hindi remake of Tamil hit, Thadam. The movie went through casting changes as Sidharth Malhotra opted out of the project and Aditya Roy Kapur stepped in as the lead. ## While Sidharth Malhotra was out of the project, Mrunal Thakur remained attached to this project from the very beggning. The makers have now reconfirmed her appearance as the female lead in the movie. Mrunal will play a fiery cop in the actioner that revolves around two lookalikes who are the primary suspects in a murder case. ## "When I heard the story, I instantly knew that I needed to be a part of this film. My character is intriguing, and playing a cop has been on my checklist. Akshay Kumar To Resume Ram Setu Shoot In October In Gujrat!

Mumbai, September 5, 2021: Akshay Kumar is undoubtedly the busiest actor in India. The actor seems to be competing with himself when it comes to shooting for the films. The Padman actor is currently shooting for the yet-untitled film, co-starring Rakul Preet Singh, with Pooja Entertainment in London. Akshay is expected to complete the shoot for his ongoing project in the next couple of weeks, and once he returns to India, he will reportedly resume shooting the ambitious film, Ram Setu in October. He is expected to complete the Ram Setu shoot by December this year. The actor had begun with the mahurat of the film in March 2021 in Ayodhya and was to shoot a long schedule in Mumbai but the second lockdown got enforced and some members of the unit including Akshay tested positive, forcing the shoot to be canceled and the set had to be demolished. There were reports that the Ram Setu team will shoot some portions in Sri Lanka as the movie had a direct connection with the country. However, the makers of the film have reportedly changed their plans to shoot in Sri Lanka as the country has a quarantine period that would keep Akshay idle for almost a week. The makers have now planned to resume shoot in Gujrat for outdoor portions for this Abhishek Sharma directorial. Gujrat is considered to be one of the most suitable locations for film shootings. Kangana Ranaut Cheers As Multiplex Chains Agree To Screen Tamil And Telugu Versions Of Thalaivi

Mumbai, September 5, 2021: Actress Kangana Ranaut, who will be seen on the big screen in the upcoming movie Thalaivi, has praised multiplex chains for allowing the movie to screen in their theaters. The actress had earlier urged the multiplex chains to help each other during these tough times after multiplex owners refused to screen the movie as it has only two week theatrical window for the Hindi version. ## While multiplex chains won't screen Thalaivi's Hindi version, they agreed to screen Tamil and Telugu versions as they have four week theatrical window before going to Amazon Prime Video. Calling it a ray of hope, Kangana took to Twitter and said that she was moved by the decision and penned a long note. ## She wrote: "PVR's decision to screen the Tamil and Telugu versions of the film is a ray of hope for Team Thalaivii as well as all those cinegoers who are waiting to rush back to their favourite multiplex chain for a cinematic experience. I am personally moved by the kind words used for me and Team Thalaivii". ## The actress hopes that the Hindi version of the film also gets to see the light of day. Kangana Ranaut's Thalaivi In Trouble; Actress Urges Multiplexes To Help Each Other

Mumbai, September 3, 2021: Kangana Ranaut starrer Thalaivi, which is scheduled to release in theaters on September 10, has found itself in hot water. Producer Vishnu Vardhan Induri has decided to release the Hindi version of the film on Netflix only after two weeks of its theatrical release, which is not going well with theater owners. ## Disappointed with the makers' decision, the national multiplex chains have decided not to release the movie on multiplexes and have jointly chosen to insist on a minimum exclusive theatrical window of four weeks until normalcy returns. ## A top officer of a leading multiplex chain was quoted as saying, "Two weeks is simply not acceptable to us. If we make a concession in the case of one film (in this case, Thalaivii), another producer would ask for a similar or a new concession. This will never stop. We recently finalized our agreement with Yash Raj Films. That agreement also stipulates an exclusive cinema window of four weeks. After that, we will revert to the pre-pandemic 8-week theatrical window".## To this, Kangana took to her Instagram handle and shared a message for the multiplex owners, requesting them to help each other during the testing times. She wrote, "No films are choosing theatres, very few and very brave like my producers @vishnuinduri @shaaileshrsingh are compromising on huge profits and letting go of exclusive streaming options only for the love of cinema". ## "In these times we must support each other and not bully or arm-twist; it's our fundamental right to recover the cost of our film which we did, we may have two weeks window for Hindi version but for South, we have four weeks window yet multiplexes ganging up on us and stopping our release there as well…This is unfair and cruel in these testing times when major territories like Maharashtra are also shut…Please let's help each other in order to save theatres", she added. ## Thalaivi will also release in Tamil and Telugu. However, according to doctors, she is doing fine and out of danger. She will soon be discharged as there is nothing to worry about. ## Saira Banu's husband and actor Dilip Kumar died at the age of 98 in Mumbai in July this year. He was also admitted to Mumbai's Hinduja Hospital after he complained of breathlessness and he died there on July 7. Mumbai, August 29, 2021: Earlier in January this year, actor Vicky Kaushal reunited with the team of Uri: The Surgical Strike for an ambitious science-fiction superhero film, The Immortal Ashwatthama. The movie was expected to commence shooting in the second half of 2021, but the second covid-19 wave spoiled the party. ## Recently, it was reported that the movie has been put on hold indefinitely due to budget issues. It was also said that producer Ronnie Screwvala had invested Rs. 30 crores loss on the pre-production work but now the investment has gone for a toss as the makers were not able to take the movie on floors due to various issues. Being an ambitious sci-fi film that needs a lot of VFX work, the budget of the film was increasing, and keeping that in mind, it was reported that the makers shelved the project. ## However, the producer Screwvala has now clarified that the movie has not been shelved but has been postponed for another six to nine months. In a statement, Ronnie Screwvala said that in the final draft of the script, the ambition of the movie and budget did not match, plus the uncertainty due to covid-19, didn't help either. ## The producer further said in the statement that keeping all things in mind, he along with Vicky Kaushal and director Aditya Dhar has decided to push the movie for another 6 to 9 months, for which, the leading lady of the film Sara Ali Khan also agreed.
