Akshay Kumar Opens Up On His Movies Not Working At The Box Office

Mumbai, August 20 - Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar was at peak of his game before the covid-19 pandemic stopped the world. Since the resumption of cinemas post-pandemic, things have taken a drastic change most Bollywood films have failed to create the same magic as it was before the pandemic. ## Akshay Kumar too has released five films in theaters in the last 8-9 months but only "Sooryavanshi" turned out to be a box office hit while the other four films have failed to keep up with the reputation Akshay carries at the box office. However, unlike many others, Khiladi Kumar is not hesitating in accepting where he is going wrong. ## During the trailer launch event of his upcoming film "Cuttputlli" on Saturday (August 20), the actor opened up about his movies not working well at the box office. Speaking to the media, the actor said, "Films are not working, it's our fault. It is my fault. I have to make the changes. I have to make what the audience wants. I want to dismantle my way and make the way, what kind of film I should do. So, nobody else to blame, but it is me who has to make changes according to what my audience wants". ## While answering a question about whether OTT is a safe platform for movies at present times, Akshay said that there is no safe place for a bad movie. Just like theatrical movies, OTT films too have to attract the audience and if the movie is not good, it will not be able to gain viewership. ## Meanwhile, Akshay's upcoming movie "Cuttputlli", which is the remake of the Tamil film "Ratsasan", will stream directly on Disney+Hotstar on September 2. Directed by Ranjit M Tewari and produced by Pooja Entertainment, the movie also stars Rakul Preet Singh and Sargun Mehta in the key roles.## Stay tuned...

Box Office: Laal Singh Chaddha And Raksha Bandhan Collect Below 100 Crores Combined In The First Week

Mumbai, August 19 - Bollywood superstars Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar's Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan, respectively have completed an extended opening week at the box office and numbers are something that industry had never thought about. ## The combined collection of both the films is around 90 crores net, which is not even close to what trade had predicated before the release. ## "Laal Singh Chaddha", which is the remake of the Hollywood classic hit "Forrest Gump", has been a bigger disappointment as its first-week collection (~ 50 cr) couldn't even cross the opening day numbers of Aamir Khan's last film "Thugs of Hindostan" which scored 50.75 crores net in 2018. ## Directed by Advait Chandan, the overseas collection of the film is somehow respectable with close to 50 crores gross (not final) but the domestic box office is forgettable, to say the least. The negativity around the film before its release also played a massive role in its disastrous fate even though the reception for the film was mixed. ## On the other hand, Akshay Kumar-fronted "Raksha Bandhan" too couldn't get going despite the positive word of mouth. The stakes for the film were low but it still performed underwhelmingly, especially knowing the fact that it has a perfect holiday period to outshine the underfire LSC. As a result, RB scored approx. 39 crores net while the overseas collection is approx. 8 crores, for the worldwide gross total of the film at 54 crores after 8 days. ## The Bollywood industry has now pinned its hopes on the next big release, which is director Ayan Mukerji's magnum opus "Brahmastra Part 1: Shiva". Scheduled for September 9 in multiple languages, the film features an ensemble cast including Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna Akkineni, and Mouni Roy along with the cameos of Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone. ## Stay tuned...

Box Office: Laal Singh Chaddha And Raksha Bandhan Record Low Opening Weekend

Mumbai, August 15 - The box office misery for Bollywood continues as Aamir Khan's Laal Singh Chaddha and Akshay Kumar-fronted Raksha Bandhan failed to get the benefit of a long holiday period. These two films were expected to bring some relief to the Hindi film industry but they performed underwhelmingly over the 4-day opening weekend. ## Talking about Aamir Khan's Laal Singh Chaddha, the film faced multiple challenges due to the boycott calls and mixed word of mouth also didn't help the cause. The remake of the Hollywood classic blockbuster Forrest Gump, "Laal Singh Chaddha" scored 37.96 crores net collection in the first 4 days, which is the lowest opening weekend total for an Aamir Khan film (lead role) since 32.25 crores of "Ghajini" (3 days).## At the overseas box office, the Advait Chandan-directed film has performed better than the domestic market and has grossed 43 crores so far. The worldwide cume total of the film reached 88 crores after 44 days. The movie is produced by Viacom 18 Motion Pictures and Aamir Khan Productions while Paramount Pictures distributed the film in international markets.## On the other hand, Akshay Kumar-fronted family comedy-drama film, Raksha Bandhan also met the same fate as LSC. Despite the positive reviews and word of mouth, the Anand L Rai-directed couldn't pick up over the weekend after a decent start. As a result, the movie could score only 28.16 crores net in 4 days as worldwide collection stands at approx. 40 crores. ## Raksha Bandhan was a perfect film, matching the vibes of the Raksha Bandhan festival. However, due to some reasons, the movie couldn't get the required momentum at the box office and ended up performing a low weekend. The lifetime collection of the film could finish under 60 crores net. ## Stay tuned...

Struggle For Bollywood At The Box Office Continues As Laal Singh Chaddha And Raksha Bandhan Fail To Meet Expectations

Mumbai, August 12 - Two of the most anticipated Movies of the year Laal Singh Chaddha by Aamir Khan and Raksha Bandhan by Akshay Kumar released yesterday with so many expectations. But both the movies struggled on their first day despite having the advantage of a national holiday on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. ## The main reason why these movies had to encounter the struggle is that Both have less commercial appeal and are made in a more urban-friendly manner. Audiences are showing less interest in both movies despite there being the presence of Big stars like Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar.## The combined collection of both movies on day 1 is 20.20 crore net. Overall both movies projected below-average results which further worries the filmmakers of Bollywood and also indicates that they should retrospect to see what is going wrong these times.## They need to realize that the preference of the audiences has undergone a drastic change over the years. The success of movies like KGF chapter 2 and Pushpa, in which the main hero is of the anti-hero type indicates that the audience prefers heroes with a touch of negative shade. Recently the warm reception south superstar Suriya has been receiving for his cameo role in Vikram which is filled with a negative shade is a clear example of this. ## Bollywood needs to reduce the number of experimental type films and focus on mass movies which engage the audiences throughout their duration, in long term emerge as big hits.## Stay tuned...

Box Office: Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan Collect Combined 20+ Crores On First Day

Mumbai, August 12 - The much-awaited Bollywood biggies, Aamir Khan's Laal Singh Chaddha and Akshay Kumar-fronted Raksha Bandhan performed underwhelmingly at the box office on an opening day. Being a holiday release, the industry was expecting both films to do well which didn't happen. ## Laal Singh Chaddha, which is the official remake of the classic Hollywood blockbuster Forrest Gump, was a bigger film than Raksha Bandhan. However, the opening day collection of 12 crores net of the film is too low by the standard Aamir has set over the years.## It was almost impossible to match the pre-covid level box office performance for Laal Singh Chaddha, but the movie still needed to perform much better than it actually earned, considering the big budget and scale of the film. A negative campaign was also run against the movie and that might have done damage to the movie. The word of mouth, however, is mixed. ## On the other hand, the Akshay Kumar-starrer family comedy-drama film, Raksha Bandhan collected 8.20 crores net on Thursday. Though the movie was predicted to earn around in the same range, a 10 crores start would have been nice, but unfortunately, the movie legged behind LSC in mutliplexes. The word of mouth and reivews are largly positive and this should help the movie to grow over the weekend, especially from Saturday. ## Overall, both Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan combined scored 20.20 crores net collection on the first day, which is lower than the opening of Akshay Kumar's Sooryavanshi. The Rohit Shetty-directed film is the biggest Bollywood opener post pandemic. It scored 26.29 crores net upon its release on Diwali 2021. ## Stay tuned...

Opening Day Box Office Prediction For Aamir Khan's 'Laal Singh Chaddha' and Akshay Kumar-Fronted 'Raksha Bandhan'

Mumbai, August 10 - There is a lot depending on the upcoming two Bollywood biggies - Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan, as far as the box office is concerned. It would have been nice if they have got a solo release, but that is not happening as both the movies are releasing on August 11. ## Laal Singh Chaddha, which stars superstar Aamir Khan in the title role, is the biggest movie this month and the industry is expecting it to perform according to the reputation it is carrying. However, the advance booking trend is saying something else which might have forced the industry to lower their expectations, at least for the opening day. ## It would have been a huge surprise to see an Aamir Khan's film not able to pick in advance sales. However, things have changed post-pandemic as the trend of box office openings post-pandemic has largely been on the lower side. Irrespective of the star power, Bollywood films haven't been able to take the big opening except for Akshay Kumar's, Sooryavanshi, which opened to over 26 crores on Diwali 2021. ## Laal Singh Chaddha, which has so far grossed approx. 3.50 crores in advance sales, is looking to open around 12-13 crores. The movie will depend on word of mouth, and we are expecting it to be positive which might push the film to around 15 crores net start. The 15 crores opening is not at all good by the standard Aamir has set, but the industry should take it in a positive way as it is having a clash with another big film, that too under current circumstances. ## On the other hand, Akshay Kumar-fronted, Raksha Bandhan is not really dependent upon the advance booking trend and will largely rely on spot bookings. The makers have promised the revive the family drama genre with this Anand L Rai-directorial and the inside reports are also super positive. ## Raksha Bandhan, which is having a perfect Holiday release, matching the vibes of the Raksha Bandhan festival, is very much on track to open around Akshay Kumar's last film, Samrat Prithviraj. Going by the advance booking, the 8-9 crores opening is a sure shot, but we are expecting it to have a better spot booking, which, hopefully, will help the film to open around 10-11 crores net. ## The best thing for both the movies is that they have a long holiday weekend ahead. So, if the critics' reviews and word of mouth is positive, both LSC and RB have all the potential to grow over the weekend, which is likely to happen. In combination, the Bollywood industry can expect 23-25 crores against its overestimated 30 crores net. ## Stay tuned...

Laal Singh Chaddha Versus Raksha Bandhan Clash Bollywood

Laal Singh Chaddha Versus Raksha Bandhan Clash

Mumbai, August 7 - This Thursday will see two huge films Laal Singh Chaddha starring Aamir Khan & Rakshbandhan starring Akshay Kumar colliding with each other at the box office. The clash is huge as both Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar are among the biggest stars of the nation with huge fanbases across all segments. ## The last time when these two stars came together was in 2007 when Welcome starring Akshay Kumar clashed with Aamir Khan's Taare Zameen Par. Welcome took bumper opening at the box office while Taare Zameen Par was a non-starter but Taare Zameen Par trended exceedingly well. Eventually, both the films proved to be blockbusters at the box office, and the expectations are going to replicate a similar level of success. ## Laal Singh Chaddha is an official remake of the Hollywood classic Forrest Gump while Rakshabandhan is an original story but the subject of brother-sister has been used in many films before so the novelty factor will be missing from both the films.## The advance booking of both the films has already started and as expected Laal Singh Chaddha is maintaining a healthy lead over its contemporary Rakshabandhan. Laal Singh Chaddha will have a 50% or higher final advance than Rakshabandhan. Even the opening day figures are going to be like same as Aamir Khan has better initial pull than Akshay Kumar in almost all the circuits of India with a huge difference being in South India where Aamir Khan has a strong following. Akshay Kumar has better pull in Bihar and a few other out-and-out mass circuits but Rakshabandhan is not a type of film where masses will lap on initially. ## The other side of this clash is that Rakshabandhan is a much safer film in this clash as the making cost of Rakshabandhan is not even 50% of Laal Singh Chaddha so even if the film does the business of 100cr net, It will be a successful film for its makers while Laal Singh Chaddha has to do over 150 cr net for being a successful or better film. ## The good thing for both films is that the window is huge for 11th August with many holidays falling in the first week so if the content of both the films gets appreciated then the numbers will come automatically. The single-day collections on 11th August should be in the range of 25-30crs and if this happens then the industry will be in a joyous mood.## Stay tuned...
