Universal Pictures' sci-fi thriller Jurassic World Rebirth is tracking for a $250+ million global opening over the five-day weekend, signalling a strong resurgence for the blockbuster franchise. ## Directed by Gareth Edwards, the fourth instalment in the Jurassic World series launched midweek on Wednesday to capitalise on the extended Fourth of July U.S. holiday window. According to Deadline, the film is forecast to rake in $120–130 million domestically during its first five days. ## While this is a slight dip from the previous entry, 2022's "Jurassic World: Dominion", which opened to $145 million, industry watchers remain optimistic. Mumbai, July 1 - Legendary Indian playback singer Arijit Singh has achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first artist in the world to surpass 150 million followers on Spotify, the popular global music streaming platform. The National Award-winning vocalist, composer, and producer has overtaken international music icon Taylor Swift to claim the top spot. ## As of July 1, 2026, Arijit Singh boasts 151 million followers on Spotify. Swift holds the second position with 139.5 million, followed by Ed Sheeran (121 million), Billie Eilish (114 million), and The Weeknd (107.2 million). Singh first rose to the top of the Spotify follower charts in August 2023, when he overtook Swift to become the most followed artist for a short period of time. ## In August 2024, Singh again became the top artist and, since then, has managed his lead over Swift. Kochi, July 1 - A couple of weeks after actor Unni Mukundan announced that he had dropped plans for a sequel to the action thriller Marco, the makers have now confirmed that the franchise will go on (with or without him). ## Cubes Entertainments, the production house behind Marco, clarified that they hold the complete rights to the franchise and intend to move forward, despite the actor's withdrawal. The clarification came in response to a fan comment urging the studio to either proceed with Marco 2 or transfer the rights to another banner. ## "Thank you for the overwhelming love and support for Marco. Discussions regarding the Marco series are still not over yet. Cubes Entertainment exclusively owns all rights to Marco, and we firmly believe the journey of Marco holds immense potential. Please note: We are not open to transferring or sharing the rights of this franchise,” the studio stated, as per a report by Onmanorama.com. ## Meanwhile, reports suggest that Marco 2 may be in development with a Bollywood actor stepping into the lead role, although no official confirmation has been made. The film, which didn't release in India due to controversy, opened overseas on June 27 and has already delivered impressive numbers. ## Directed by Amar Hundal, Sardaar Ji 3 collected approximately ₹18.1 crore ($2.1+ million) in its first three-day weekend, as per an official update from the makers. This marks the second-biggest opening weekend for a Punjabi film ever, trailing only Jatt & Juliet 3, which also featured Diljit in the lead role. ## Breaking down the weekend earnings, the film grossed around ₹4.30 crore on Friday, followed by ₹6.75 crore on Saturday, and ₹7 crore on Sunday. North America emerged as the film's biggest market, contributing approximately ₹6.50 crore (around $760,000) to the weekend total. ## Interestingly, Sardaar Ji 3 also set a new benchmark in Pakistan, registering the highest opening ever for an Indian film in the country.
