Arijit Singh Surpasses Billie Eilish and Taylor Swift To Become 3rd Most Followed Artist On Spotify

Mumbai, August 18 - India's singing sensation, Arijit Singh has leapfrogged global music stars Billie Eilish and Taylor Swift to become the 3rd most followed artists on Spotify, and is now behind only Ed Sheeran and Ariana Grande.## Arijit Singh has 86.3 million followers on the music platform, ahead of Billie Eilish (84.6 million) and Taylor Swift (83.1 million). Ed Sheeran, who is the most followed artist on Spotify, has 114.3 million followers, followed by Ariana Grande with 92.9 million followers.## Singh, who won a national award for the 'Binte Dil' song in "Padmaavat", is the only Indian artist in the top 10 most followed list on Spotify. Mumbai, August 18 - Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is gearing up for his next blockbuster, action thriller "Jawan" which is scheduled to release on September 7. Directed by Atlee Kumar, the movie is a hotly-awaited Pan India movie that is expected to be a big box office winner.## The movie is less than four weeks away from its worldwide release and the advance booking has already started opening in some of the international markets. The early overseas pre-sales of the movie are highly encouraging and are better than SRK's recent blockbuster "Pathaan" in many territories.## In the USA, "Jawan" is off to a very good start and has already sold approximately 10430 tickets worth $161.40K from 385 locations, according to Venky Reviews, as of 9 AM, August 24 (IST). Mumbai, August 17 - Akshay Kumar's social comedy-drama film "OMG 2" sees a drop of around 35% on its first Thursday. The drop was expected considering the movie is coming after a long holiday period, however, the drop is slightly on the higher side. ## The early estimates suggest the first Thursday collection of the movie in the range of 5.25 crores net which takes the total collection of the movie to over 84.50 crores net in the full first week. The multiplexes continue to drive the biz while smaller centers remain dull due to Gadar 2. ## "OMG 2" will be targeting 22+ net collections in the second weekend which will take its total collection to over 100 crores net. Box Office: Gadar 2 First Thursday Early Estimates

Mumbai, August 17 - Gadar 2 records its first drop on its first Thursday but the overall collection continues to remain solid after a very strong as early estimates suggest in the range of 22.50 crores net which is a very good number as these numbers are coming after the film has already consumed 250cr plus worth of audience. There is a drop in the multiplexes but the single-screen cinemas continue to drive the film. The first Thursday numbers will take the total collections of the film to around 284 crores net which is an extraordinary collection and better than the lifetime collections of major blockbusters of the last decade or so. The first week collections of around 284 crores will be the second-highest first week of all time after Pathaan which comfortably crossed the 300cr net box office mark. This 284 cr net first week has come in a clash with OMG2 so on fair value the film would have crossed the 325cr net mark easily had it released solo like Pathaan or KGF2.## The key from here is the numbers on the second Friday is tomorrow and the hold on the second Monday. Director Amit Rai Reveals How Akshay Kumar's Courage Saved 'OMG 2'

Mumbai, August 17 - The sequel to Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal-starrer 2012's film "Oh My God - OMG" was finally released on August 11, 2023, and against all odds, it is set to emerge a big success. Directed by Amit Rai, "OMG 2" features Akshay as Lord Shiva in an extended appearance while this time, Pankaj Tripathi takes the central role with Yami Gautam.## "OMG 2" has had its own struggle story before hitting cinemas. The makers had to fight an internal battle with the censor board as board members were initially not willing to grant a censor certificate to the movie. However, after continued efforts, the movie got censored but not the way the makers would have liked. It was granted an "A" rating (18+ only) while the team wanted "U/A" which was denied.## During a recent interview with ETimes, Amit Rai said that he is still trying to convince the censor board members to change their decision and give the movie "U/A" certificate. He also revealed that he took some intelligent steps to save the film from so many cuts for which, the VFX team worked continuously to make certain changes. ## Censorship issues aside, Amit Rai revealed that "OMG 2" would have never been made had Akshay Kumar not backed it. The movie deals with sex education in India and it has been given a religious angle to convey the message. Rai said that due to its subject, filmmakers like Karan Johar, Ashutosh Gowariker, Sony Pictures, and others had rejected the script and it was on the verge of getting shelved.## After many filmmakers rejected it, Akshay Kumar came forward and showed the courage to back it. "He was very open to the script and said that the film needs to be made. Because of him, we're still standing strong otherwise 'OMG 2' wouldn't have got made. I met Ashwin Varde, Vipul D Shah, and Rajesh Bahl and through them, I reached Akshay Kumar. Box Office: Gadar 2 First Wednesday Early Estimates; Mayhem Continues

Mumbai, August 16 - Gadar 2 mayhem continues at the box office after the historic 5-day Independence Day weekend domestically. On its first Wednesday/sixth day, Gadar 2 scores an estimated 34-35 crores net which is simply outstanding and unbelievable to describe. The sort of occupancy the film is running with has never been seen for ages and we have to go back to 2001 to see similar occupancies when Gadar: Ek Prem Katha broke all records and before that, it was Hum Aapke Hain Koun in 1994.
