Mumbai, August 19 - Akshay Kumar's social comedy-drama, OMG 2 has crossed 100 crores net collection after the excellent jump on its second Saturday. The jump today is at least 75% and can go up to 85% depending on the performance of the smaller centers.## The early estimates suggest a second Saturday collection of OMG 2 around 10.50-11 crores net and can go higher which remains to see. This takes the total collection to over 101.50 crores net in just 9 days, becoming the first Akshay Kumar-starrer since "Sooryavanshi" to enter the 100 crores net club.## The second weekend of OMG 2 is eyeing around 28-30 crores net which will be a fantastic hold with a drop of just 40% from the opening weekend. The movie, as has been the trend so far, scored a big jump in the multiplex while non-multiplex also witnessed a decent jump today.## OMG 2 will be around 115 crores after the second weekend and now, it will easily cross the 125 crores net mark and has a genuine shot at reaching 150 crores lifetime collection. It is currently 6th highest-grossing Hindi film of 2023 in India, behind Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor's "Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar" which grossed 175 crores in March this year.## At the overseas box office, "Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani" is sensational and has turned into a blockbuster success. It has so far minted approximately 132 crores internationally, pushing the total worldwide gross collection of the movie to over 299 crores in 22 days.## RRKPK is the 5th Bollywood movie of the year to enter the 300 crores club worldwide, after "Pathaan", "The Kerala Story", "Adipurush", and "Gadar 2". It has turned into one of the biggest blockbusters of all time.## Now, Sunny Deol is gearing up to bring the sequel to his other classic blockbuster, "Border" (1997). According to Pinkvilla, the actor is reuniting with filmmaker JP Dutta for India's biggest war film "Border 2". The makers are in advanced talks with a top studio for the same.## It is said that the makers have been planning to make "Border 2" for the last 2-3 years and things have finally fallen into place as the team is set to make the official announcement soon. It will be set against the backdrop of the Indo-Pak war in 1971.## "Border 2" will be produced by JP Dutta and Nidhi Dutta along with a top studio. The report says that the movie will cast a younger generation of actors rather than bringing the original cast back. Churachandpur, August 19 - Vicky Kaushal-led military action film "Uri: The Surgical Strike" becomes the first Bollywood movie in 20 years to get screened in Manipur state. ## The movie about surgical strikes against Pakistan-based terrorists was shown in a temporary open-air theatre in Churachandpur on Tuesday, according to ABPLive.## "Uri" marked the return of cinema to the conflict-torn state of Manipur after more than 20 years. The Rengkai (Lamka) screening of the movie saw decent attendance. It was screened by the Hmar Students' Association (HSA). ## The national anthem was played at the outdoor theatre, which is located 63 kilometers from the capital city before the film started. Apart from "Ur", three more Hindi movies will be screened including, the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai".## "Uri", directed by Aditya Dhar and produced by RSVP Movies, is a fictionalized portrayal of the actual event of the response to the 2016 Uri attack. It tells the story of Major Vihaan Shergill of the Para (Special Forces), who played a significant role in the events. ## The movie stars Vicky Kaushal in the lead role alongside Yami Gautam, Mohit Raina, Kirti Kulhari, and Paresh Rawal in pivotal roles. Mumbai, August 19 - Sunny Deol-led period action drama film "Gadar 2: The Katha Continues" continued its blockbuster run on the second Friday which led it to go past 300 crores net collection. It has become only the second Bollywood movie of the year to hit the triple century mark after Shah Rukh Khan's "Pathaan".## Directed by Anil Sharma, "Gadar 2" scored 20.50 crores net on its second Friday/8th day which takes its total collection to 305.13 crores net. The 20.50 crores net collection is the biggest second Friday ever in the Hindi language, besting SS Rajamouli's "Baahubali 2" which minted 19.75 crores net. ## There have been a total of just 12 films in the Hindi language to enter 300 crores net club and "Gadar 2" is the second fastest among them to do so. It took just 8 days to get there, behind "Pathaan" which breached this milestone in just 7 days. The second Friday collection might top the Thursday number depending on the performance of the smaller centers which remains to see.## The second weekend of OMG 2 could be around 25 crores net which is very good. Mumbai, August 18 - Indians love big-screen cinema, and this has been proved once again with the historical box office collection of the films released during the Independence Day 2023 week. It was a momentous week for Indian cinema which films across languages bring massive crowds in theaters.## Sunny Deol-led sequel to a 22-year-old period action drama movie "Gadar: Ek Prem Katha", along with superstar Rajinikanth's action thriller "Jailer", superstar Akshay Kumar's social comedy-drama "OMG 2", and megastar Chiranjeevi's action drama "Bholaa Shankar" had a massive contribution to the historical biz as these four movies combined grossed around 750 crores at the Indian box office during the Independence Day week.## Gadar 2: The Katha Continues, which was released on August 11, stole the show with sensational first-week collection at the Indian box office. Directed by Anil Sharma, the movie scored the all-time second-biggest first week in Hindi with a gross collection of approx. 336 crores (284.63 crores net). Overseas, it grossed approx. 33 crores, for the worldwide opening week of 369 crores. ## Superstar Rajinikanth makes a roaring comeback with Jailer which is nearing 300 crores at the domestic box office. In its extended 8-day first week, the movie grossed approx. 277 crores and becomes the highest-grossing Tamil movie of the year. Worldwide, it has crossed 400 crores as it currently stands at approx. 427 crores, including 150 crores overseas collection. ## OMG 2, the social comedy-drama which is the sequel to 2012's movie "Oh My God - OMG", also had a fantastic first week which saw it crossing 100 crores domestic gross. Though Akshay Kumar was not the main lead, the movie kind of marks a comeback for the actor who was under pressure with back-to-back flops. "OMG 2", which has Pankaj Tripathi in the central role with Yami Gautam, grossed approx. 100.50 crores (85.05 crores net) in India while worldwide collection stands at 120 crores in the first week.## Among the Independence Day 2023 week releases, megastar Chiranjeevi's Bholaa Shankar turned out to be a big let down despite being the 4th biggest grosser during the same week. It has turned out to be one of the biggest disasters in Telugu cinema featuring a top star. Chennai, August 18 - Sree Gokulam Movies, the leading distribution house in Kerala, has acquired the theatrical rights of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's "Jawan" in Kerala and Tamil Nadu for an all-time highest price for a Bollywood movie.## According to Kerala industry tracker Ab George, Gokulam Movies has paid an unheard non-refundable royalty amount of 50 crores to grab the rights. This is by far the biggest-ever distribution deal for any Bollywood movie in the South Indian market. ## Gokulam Movies will release "Jawan" via Dream Big Films in Kerala while Tamil Nadu release will be done through market leader Red Giant Movies. The movie is carrying massive buzz in these two states and it is expected to emerge a big success. ## This is the third straight huge film acquired by Gokulam Movies after Rajinikanth's "Jailer" and Thalapathy Vijay's "Leo" in Kerala. Tokyo, August 18 - The highest-grossing Indian movie of 2023, "Pathaan" starring superstar Shah Rukh Khan, John Abraham, and Deepika Padukone, is set for a huge release in Japan on September 1st. The film is directed by Siddharth Anand and produced by Yash Raj Films.## "Pathaan" will have a wide release in Japan and for the first time for a non-Hollywood international movie, the local distributors will release the movie on a record number of IMAX screens. It is revealed that the spy action thriller movie will debut on 33 IMAX screens across the country. ## The distributors will also gift an exclusive IMAX poster to the audiences in those theaters. Mumbai, August 18 - Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is gearing up for his next blockbuster, action thriller "Jawan" which is scheduled to release on September 7. Directed by Atlee Kumar, the movie is a hotly-awaited Pan India movie that is expected to be a big box office winner.## The movie is less than four weeks away from its worldwide release and the advance booking has already started opening in some of the international markets. The early overseas pre-sales of the movie are highly encouraging and are better than SRK's recent blockbuster "Pathaan" in many territories.## In the USA, "Jawan" is off to a very good start and has already sold approximately 10430 tickets worth $161.40K from 385 locations, according to Venky Reviews, as of 9 AM, August 24 (IST). The locations and shows will be increased in the coming days as the movie is projected to take a bigger start than Pathaan in the USA. ## Pathaan grossed approx. $1.85 million on the opening day in North America, and Jawan will be looking to outgross that number comfortably.
