Box Office: 'Koi Mil Gaya' (Re-Release) First Week Collection

Mumbai, August 12 - On the occasion of the 20th anniversary, filmmaker Rakesh Roshan and superstar Hrithik Roshan re-released their superhit science fiction movie "Koi Mil Gaya" (2003) on August 4 in association with PVR Cinemas. ## The movie had limited re-release across PVR properties in around 30 cities as it was more like celebrating this cult classic rather than aiming for big bucks with a proper second-frame release. In the opening weekend, "Koi Mil Gaya" scored approx. 19 lakh gross in around 225 shows. ## After the opening weekend, the movie was left with a limited chance to score during weekdays as it grossed approx. 10 lakh from Monday to Thursday (August 7 - August 10). Mumbai, August 12 - Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani turning out to be a huge blockbuster at the overseas box office. The movie, directed by Karan Johar and starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, has been on a strong run since its debut on July 28. ## At the end of the second week, the romantic family drama movie crossed the 100 crores mark overseas as total international reached approx. 104 crores ($12.5 million), including approx. $5.3 million (44 crores) in the second week. It dropped just around 23% from the opening frame which is an excellent hold.## North America is leading the international pack for Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani with approx. $5.9 million (49 crores), followed by Gulf countries with $2.60 million (21.60 crores), and the United Kingdom with $1.5 million (12.50 crores) in just two weeks. The rest of the overseas part scored approx. $2.50 million (21 crores).## RRKPK's worldwide gross collection through the second Thursday (2 weeks) reached approx. 245 crores and it crossed the 250 crores gross mark on its third Friday after a strong hold all across despite the mammoth competition. Mumbai, August 11 - Akshay Kumar-starrer social comedy-drama film "OMG 2" has taken a decent start at the domestic box office. The major chunk of the opening day business of the movie has come through multiplexes as a large number of non-multiplex chains allotted to "Gadar 2" which is running riot at the box office. ## As per the early estimates, "OMG 2" is looking to score in the range of 9.50 crores net with an outside chance of hitting a double-digit mark depending on how strong smaller centers are. The opening of 9.50 crores net is in the expected lines as the movie didn't have the initial advantage due to "Gadar 2" euphoria.## "OMG 2" took a decent start in the morning and showed a jump in the evening and night shows, thanks to the super positive word of mouth. The movie is now in a better position to score over the Independence Day week than where it was standing before release.## The advance booking of the movie for the second day is much better which shows that word of mouth coming into play. The movie should score a healthy jump tomorrow and Sunday before carrying the momentum till Independence Day. Mumbai, August 10 - Karan Johar's romantic family drama movie "Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani" scored a very good second week at the domestic box office. The movie dropped just around 35% from the opening week collection, which is an excellent hold.## "Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani", starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, minted approx. 48 crores net in the second weekend. This takes the total collection to over 121 crores in two weeks, making it the 4th highest-grossing outright Bollywood movie of the year. ## Overseas, RRKPK has minted approx. 103 crores gross in two weeks, pushing the worldwide collection of the movie to approx. 245 crores gross. It is currently the 3rd highest-grossing outright Bollywood movie of the year, behind only "Pathaan" (1050 crores) and "The Kerala Story" (302 crores). ## RRKPK has enjoyed the perks of free run for two weeks as going forward from now on, it will have two mighty opponents in the form of "Gadar 2" and "OMG 2" which are expected to sweep most of the screens. Now, a decade later, the superstar is returning with the film's sequel which revolves around sex education in India. ## In the first movie, Akshay plays the role of Lord Krishna, and this time, he is making an appearance as Lord Shiva's messenger while Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam feature in prominent roles along with Arun Govil and Pawan Malhotra.## Being a sequel to a super successful movie there was added pressure on the makers to stay true to its legacy and it seems, director Amit Rai has delivered what it was promised. The movie had its special screening from which the response is nothing but extraordinary.## Renowned critic, Taran Adarsh hails OMG 2 as a "Courageous, bold, brave, and progressive" film. Mumbai, August 10 - In August 2021, Farhan Akhtar announced his directorial comeback after 10 years with an all-female-led road trip movie "Jee Le Zaraa", featuring Priyanka Chopra, Alia Bhatt, and Katrina Kaif. ## The shoot of the movie was supposed to commence in 2022 but got delayed as the leading trio was busy with their already-committed projects. Earlier in the year, Farhan Akhtar delighted fans by sharing pictures of him scouting for locations to shoot the movie. ## However, just when things were looking on track, rumors started making rounds on social media regarding the film's lead cast, after it was reported that Priyanka walked out of the project due to date issues. But now, filmmaker Reema Kagti, who is set to produce Jee Le Zaraa along with Zoya Akhtar under the banner Tiger Baby Films, has cleared the air regarding the rumors of casting changes.## During a recent interview with PTI, Kagti confirmed that the Farhan Akhtar directorial will go on floors with the same star cast very soon. It was even reported that the makers approached many A-listers to replace Priyanka in the film, but now, Kagti's revelation has put all the rumors to rest.## The makers are putting efforts to match the dates of Priyanka, Alia, and Katrina before taking the movie on floors. OMG 2 Advance Booking Status and Opening Day Box Office Expectations

Mumbai, August 9 - Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar is coming to the big screen with the sequel to his superhit movie "OMG" (2012), also starring Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam. Directed by Amit Rai, "OMG 2" has been in the news for the last few days regarding its censorship which has been the talk of the talk.## "OMG 2" deals with a very sensitive issue of sex education and the religious angle in it has kept the censor board busy. After closely reviving the movie, "OMG 2" managed to get done with censorship formalities with some changes and has been censored with an "A" certificate (adult only) with the approved run-time of 2 hours 36 minutes. ## The movie is expected to release on over 1500 screens nationwide, mainly due to the hugely hyped "Gadar 2" which is releasing on the same day (August 11). The "Gadar 2" juggernaut is clearly affecting the advance booking of the Akshay Kumar-starrer, which, however, still manages to put up decent pre-sales.## Even though the hype of OMG 2 gets reduced due to Gadar 2, the pre-booking of the movie is much better than Akshay Kumar's last release "Selfiee". As of 5 AM on August 11, "OMG 2" has sold approx. 113K tickets worth 3.3 crores gross for the opening day. In three national chains (PVR, INOX, and Cinepolis), the film has sold approx. 70K tickets. ## The final pre-sales of the movie is expected to finish over 100K tickets overall, including around 70K tickets in PIC. It will mainly target multiple audiences and has less scope to score in smaller centres due to "Gadar 2". ## The advance booking trend of OMG 2 indicates the opening of at least 8 crores net and has a good shot at hitting the double-digit mark if the talks are positive. If it opens in the expected lines, it will be a decent start considering the scenario around it. The positive word of mouth could significantly boost its chances over the Independence Day week. ## The movie is the sequel to a hugely successful film, be it critically or commercially and this is one of the biggest pluses it is currently having. Despite lagging behind the Sunny Deol-led movie, OMG 2 has its audience which is expected to turn in over the weekend, and as said, if it manages to get positive WOM, things can change drastically in its favour which the makers will be hoping for.## Stay tuned...

It is directed by Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru, known for directing "Sanam Teri Kasam".## On Wednesday (August 9), the makers took to social media to release the first-look poster, featuring Divya Khosla Kumar, Meezaan Jafri, and Pearl V Puri. The poster is eye-catching in which Divya is portrayed with her back to the camera with a cigarette in her hand in Lehenga with both the male actors standing on either side of her.## With the first look poster, the makers also announced that the teaser will be out tomorrow (August 10) while the movie will be hitting worldwide cinemas on October 20, on the occasion of Dussehra. Akshay Kumar's 'Welcome 3' Locks Female Lead Cast

Mumbai, August 8 - The third installment of the much-awaited comedy film franchise "Welcome" is in the works and the development on the same is moving fast. The movie will see Akshay Kumar making his comeback in the franchise after missing out on "Welcome 2" while the makers have also locked a rock-solid rest of the cast.## It has been confirmed that besides Akshay Kumar, the makers have roped in Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi who will replace Nana Patekar and Anil Kapoor in "Welcome 3". It will also reportedly feature Paresh Rawal and Suniel Shetty. ## Now, according to Pinkvilla, the makers have locked in Jacqueline Fernandez and Disha Patani to play the female lead roles. "Every Welcome film has a conflict around the female protagonist and this one too will stay true to the world of this franchise. Both Jacqueline and Disha will bring the right amount of confusion to the story", the report says.## Earlier, there were reports that Bobby Deol is also a part of the movie but the report clarify that things didn't work out between the producers and Bobby, and now, the team is in talks with another actor to come on board.
