Mumbai, August 30, 2021: Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar's espionage thriller "Bell Bottom" released in theaters on August 19 across the world, becoming the first Bollywood biggie to get a theatrical release amid the covid-19 pandemic. ## Despite not earning as much as makers expected, this Ranjit Tewari directorial has managed to bring the audiences back to theaters. Bell Bottom has already become the highest grosser Bollywood movie amid the pandemic and it is doing decent business. The movie was released without Maharasthra - the biggest market for a Hindi film, and with just 50% occupancy in most of the other states. ## On the other hand, Akshay took to social media on Sunday and shared an update about his film. Mumbai, August 29, 2021: Earlier in January this year, actor Vicky Kaushal reunited with the team of Uri: The Surgical Strike for an ambitious science-fiction superhero film, The Immortal Ashwatthama. The movie was expected to commence shooting in the second half of 2021, but the second covid-19 wave spoiled the party. ## Recently, it was reported that the movie has been put on hold indefinitely due to budget issues. It was also said that producer Ronnie Screwvala had invested Rs. 30 crores loss on the pre-production work but now the investment has gone for a toss as the makers were not able to take the movie on floors due to various issues. Being an ambitious sci-fi film that needs a lot of VFX work, the budget of the film was increasing, and keeping that in mind, it was reported that the makers shelved the project. ## However, the producer Screwvala has now clarified that the movie has not been shelved but has been postponed for another six to nine months. In a statement, Ronnie Screwvala said that in the final draft of the script, the ambition of the movie and budget did not match, plus the uncertainty due to covid-19, didn't help either. ## The producer further said in the statement that keeping all things in mind, he along with Vicky Kaushal and director Aditya Dhar has decided to push the movie for another 6 to 9 months, for which, the leading lady of the film Sara Ali Khan also agreed. In an interview with pinkvilla, the writers of the film, Aseem Arrora and Parveez Shaikh revealed that Akshay Kumar really liked the concept of the movie and he wants to create a franchise of it. ## The writers, however, said that they are yet to crack a story for Bell Bottom 2 and are trying to do something interesting. His impactful performance as the 1999 Kargil war martyr in Shershaah has made a lasting impression on cinema lovers. ## The Vishnuvardhan directorial has brought Sidharth the appreciation he was looking for ever since he made his debut with Karan Johar's Student of The Year in 2012. Though Malhotra was doing good before Shershaah, his career is expected to boost like nothing else after his once-in-a-lifetime performance. ## Now, according to the latest reports, Sidharth is again collaborating with Karan Johar's Dharma Productions. There is chaos to release movies directly on OTT as theaters are yet to fully operational. ## Vaani, however, insists that Shamshera is a film meant for theatrical experience and will release only with 100 percent occupancy in the cinema halls. ## "It will release when the things fully normalize. It is meant for a theatrical experience. I have seen the film, and it's looking beautiful. It's brilliantly made. I am not saying because I am in it, but to see Ranbir Kapoor in this part is very refreshing", Vaani said to Pinkvilla. ## "I loved Karan Malhotra's Agneepath too. He has made a film which provides entertainment to all segment people, all kinds of audiences. The makers are waiting for the right time when one has 100 percent occupancy in theatres. It's a kind of film that requires the theatrical experience", she added. ## It is the first time Vaani is sharing screen space with both Ranbir Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt. The actress was recently seen alongside Akshay Kumar in the spy thriller movie, Bell Bottom, which was released in theaters on August 19. Vaani also has Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui in her kitty, in which she has been paired opposite Ayushmann Khurrana. ## Stay tuned...
