Bell Bottom Review: Critics Welcome Akshay Kumar Starrer With Both Hands

Mumbai, August 18, 2021: And the day is finally here. After dealing with the covid-19 pandemic for nearly two years, Bollywood is all set to welcome the first biggie in form of Akshay Kumar starrer "Bell Bottom", on the big screen. The spy thriller movie, which went through a lot of speculations of its OTT release in the last few months, finally releases in theaters on August 19 worldwide, also in 3D. ## Directed by Ranjit M Tewari, Bell Bottom is inspired by a real-life hijacking of an Indian Airlines flight in 1984 during Indira Gandhi's tenure as PM of India. Akshay Kumar plays a RAW agent in the film who was sent on a secret mission to rescue the 210 hostages. Bell Bottom is the codename of Akshay in the film. The movie also features Vaani Kapoor, Lara Dutta, Huma Qureshi, and Adil Hussain in key roles. ## On Wednesday (August 18), Bell Bottom producers held a special screening in INOX for the media persons in Surat. It is produced by Jackky Bhagnani, Nikkhil Advani, Deepshikha Deshmukh, and Monisha Advani under the banners of Pooja Entertainment, and Emmay Entertainment. Mumbai, August 18, 2021: Bollywood actor Sidharth Malhotra has become the talk of the town after delivering his career-best performance in the recently released, Shershaah. The film, which is a biopic of the Kargil War hero Vikram Batra, is getting rave reviews from all parts of the country. Those who have watched the movie hailed Sidharth for portraying Batra in the film. ## Directed by Vishnuvardhan in his Hindi debut, Shershaah premiered directly on Amazon Prime Video on August 12. However, soon after the movie was released on OTT, there has been chatter among critics and the audience about how it was meant to be consumed on the big screen. The trade predicted Shershaah to become Sid's biggest grosser to date had it released in the cinema halls. ## In an interview with Pinkvilla, Sidharth too himself admitted that after the kind of response the movie received, it would have been a successful outing in theaters. However, he is also aware that the movie was ready to release for a long time now, and keeping that in mind, the makers took a decision to release it on the digital platform. ## "After looking at the love and response from the audience, I know for sure that this would not have disappointed at the box office. That being said, we were ready last July and the film was shot keeping the big screen in mind. But this is the new norm. We may not have a full capacity of screens this year and that wouldn't do justice to a film of this scale. Hence, we decided to bring it to the small screen at everyone's home", Sidharth said to Pinkvilla. ## Shershaah also stars Kiara Advani as the female lead. Mumbai, August 18, 2021: Ever since the trailer of Akshay Kumar starrer "Bell Bottom", has released, the transformation of Lara Dutta as Indira Gandhi has become a talking point among the fans on social media. ## In an interview with IANS, director Ranjit M. Tewari shared why Lara Dutta was selected for the role despite her facial features not being similar to those of the late former prime minister. The director revealed casting Lara as Indira Gandhi was Akshay's idea while her transformation could be possible because of the science of prosthetics. ## "This was one of the important casting decisions for my film. If we look at Lara in real life, she carries herself with a lot of dignity and has a very strong personality. Initially, the idea of casting Lara came from Akshay sir, so the credit goes to him. Then I was wondering how to make her look like Mrs. Gandhi. She does not look like her in any way", Tewari said. ## "I had two options: either we make Lara look exactly like Mrs. Gandhi, or create a similar look, keeping the essence of the 'Mrs. Gandhi look'. Then I sat with (the makeup artist) Vikram Gaikwad and after several discussions and photoshop sessions, finally, we went for prosthetics". ## "For the first time, when she had 70 percent of her prosthetics on, I saw Lara in her Mrs. Gandhi look. I was like, 'That's it! We found the look!' I am very happy that the effort that has gone into her look has been appreciated. Nayanthara has already worked with Atlee in Raja Rani and Bigil, and she is said to be the first choice of director for SRK's film. ## Now, the latest reports say that Dangal fame Sanya Malhotra has also been roped in to join the ensemble team. The actress who's already doing Love Hostel for SRK's banner Red Chillies, will play one of the main characters in this Atlee directorial. She is signed and locked for the film and is very excited to share screen space with the SRK who is set to begin his career's new phase with some global-standard, big-scale, content-driven movies.## Atlee is a popular face down south and has delivered three box office blockbusters with Thalapathy Vijay. The yet-to-be-titled film is the first directorial venture for Balki after Akshay Kumar starrer Padman. ## Meanwhile, ever since the movie was announced, there were rumors that legendary Amitabh Bachchan is also a part of the film considering that he shares a good rapport with the filmmaker and has done guest appearances in Balki's previous films too. Well, the filmmaker has now himself confirmed that Big B is indeed an important part of the film and that his role will be decisive. ## Speaking about Big B's role in the film, the director told Spotboye, "He has to be there. I've cast him in every single film of mine beginning with Cheeni Kum where he was the lead to Pad Man where he made a special appearance. In my thriller, Mr. Bachchan will come in at a crucial juncture in the plot. His presence would be decisive, as it always is in my cinema. I'd never cast him just for the sake of casting him". ## Balki is directing Sunny Deol for the first time. Speaking about his decision of casting Sunny in his film, the Paa director said, "I've never worked with him. I don't know why I thought of him. But this was a role that needed a man with an understated machismo. Strong yet vulnerable. A man of a few words whose presence alone makes people pay attention to him. Sunny can command respect without raising his voice or fists. I wanted that personality for this character". ## The film will also have his first collaboration with Malayalam superstar Dulquer Salmaan. "Dulquer is one of the most talented actors today. I wanted to work with him for the longest time. This thriller requires Dulquer presence. Tamannaah Bhatia will be starring as the female lead alongside Riteish Deshmukh. Riteish is playing a matchmaker while Tamannah essays the role of a divorce lawyer. The movie, starring Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani, is based on the life of army captain Vikram Batra who sacrificed his life during the Kargil War. Before Shershaah, Karan had produced patriotic films like the Raazi, Kesari, and Gunjan Saxena, which became blockbusters. ## Now, according to reports, the renowned filmmaker is developing a script on the life of freedom fighter Usha Mehta, under his production banner Dharma Productions. Usha Mehta was a Gandhian and freedom fighter of India who ran an underground pirate radio called Congress Radio during the Quit India Movement and gave tough time to the British Government. ## Post-Independence, Usha Mehta was conferred with Padma Vibhushan, the second-highest civilian award of India. It is a heroic story of India's one of the unsung heroes and the creative team at Dharma has been working on this script for a while now. The script is said to be based on the play, Khar Khar, written by Amatya Goradia and Pritesh Sodha. The movie will be directed by Kannan Iyer, who is also writing the script with Darab Farooqui, as per pinkvilla. ## For Usha Mehta's biopic, Dharma Productions is currently in search of a top A-list actress who can do justice to the charactor. Apart from Mehta's biopic, Karan recently announced the untold story of C. Sankaran Nair, who fought legendary courtroom battle to uncover the truth about Jallianwala Bagh Massacre. ## Interestingly, it's not only Karan Johar who is bringing freedom fighters to life. Earlier in the day, producer Vishnu Vardhan Induri also announced a film franchise, Azad Hind, as a tribute to the unsung heroes of the Indian Independence fight. Salman Khan To Produce And Star In A Jungle Adventure Film?

Mumbai, August 15, 2021: Bollywood superstar Salman Khan is currently busy shooting for the Yash Raj Films' third installment of the Tiger franchise. The movie, which is yet to be announced officially, went on floors in March this year with Salman and Katrina, who reprise their roles as RAW and ISI agents respectively in the film. ## The film, being directed by Maneesh Sharma, has Emraan Hashmi on board to lock horns with Salman Khan as ISI agents. Hashmi's character is said to be smart, stylish, and far from any negative shade of character he has done previously and he gets into an ideological battle with Tiger. ## Apart from Tiger 3, Salman Khan is said to be producing and starring in a Jungle adventure film with a man vs nature concept, according to the film critic and trade analyst Sumit Kadel. The movie is said to be an ambitious project which is reportadly mounted on a mammoth budget of around Rs. 300 crores. He has Antim: The Final Truth, which is currently in the post-production stage. The movie also stars Aayush Sharma and Pragya Jaiswal in the lead roles. Apart from these films, Salman will soon begin shooting for Bhaijaan, in which, Pooja Hegde has been paired with him. ## The superstar also has Sajid Nadiadwala's Kick 2, which is also expected to roll out soon. Azad Hind film franchise announced as a tribute to the unsung heroes of the Indian Independence fight. ## The first film in the Azad Hindi franchise will bring to life the untold story of Veerangana Durgawati Devi popularly called Durga Bhabhi. Durgawati fought British Raj and inspired legendary freedom fighters like Bhagat Singh and Chandrashekhar Azad. He has jointly produced biographical sports drama "83" with KKhan, Deepika Padukone, and Sajid Nadiadwala in while Reliance Entertainment has co-distributed the film. ## "Thalaivi", another biographical film starring Kangana Ranaut, is also co-produced by Vishnu Vardhan Induri and Shailesh R Singh of Vibri Motion Pictures and Karma Media And Entertainment respectively.
