Hyderabad, June 23 - Director Sekhar Kammula's Telugu-Tamil drama thriller Kuberaa starring Dhanush, Nagarjuna, and Rashmika Mandanna scored an excellent opening weekend, exceeding expectations at the domestic and worldwide box office. ## Kuberaa recorded strong occupancies throughout the weekend, especially for the Telugu version. The movie opened to an excellent collection on Friday, grossing over 17 crores domestically. Of which, the Telugu version generated over 11.50 crores gross, which is around 65% of the total business. ## The opening day biz was driven by strong word of mouth, which translated into bigger numbers on Saturday and Sunday. The film finished the 3-day opening weekend with a gross collection of around 57 crores, including around 40 crores gross in the Telugu version. ## Overseas, Kuberaa grossed an estimated 23 crores, for a worldwide total of around 80 crores. This is the biggest opening weekend for Dhanush and Nagarjuna. Kochi, June 23 - After the official announcement, director Jeethu Joseph has dropped a major update regarding Drishyam 3. There have been speculations that the Hindi version of this crime suspense thriller will be different, unlike the first two movies, which were remakes of the original Malayalam films. ## During a recent conversation with the Times of India, director Jeethu Joseph, who directed the first two Malayalam versions of Drishyam 3 and will return for the third instalment, said that the script of the upcoming film is nearing completion and contrary to the rumours, he confirmed the plot will be same in all versions. ## "There have been reports that the Hindi version will have a different story, but that's not true. The Hindi film will also be based on my story. Once I complete my script, it will be shared with the Hindi team, who will then adapt it to suit their setting and make suitable cultural changes", the filmmaker said. ## Both Hindi and Malayalam versions of Drishyam 3 will start rolling in October this year. There were rumours that the Malayalam movie would be released before the Hindi, but Jeethu Joseph hinted that both versions may have a simultaneous release. ## "There was a request from their side for a simultaneous release. So, we have been discussing the prospect of releasing the films simultaneously. In this OTT age, they feel that releasing on different dates might reduce the film's impact in other languages", he added. ## It is confirmed that Drishyam 3 Hindi will be directed by Abhishek Pathak and will see Ajay Devgn and the rest of the cast reprising their roles. The weekend biz of the movie is a classic case of the unpredictability of the box office, which can turn the tide either way of expectations. ## SZP, directed by RS Prasanna, scored the opening of a little over 10 crores net, something which would have been considered a disaster start for an Aamir Khan-starrer before the COVID-19 pandemic, but not in the present time, when big openings are no longer guaranteed, even for a superstar's film. ## It was still the lowest opening for Aamir Khan since Ghajini (10.20 crores net), but it can be called decent given the fact that there weren't high expectations from it, as trade was expecting below the double-digit start. This is the biggest second-day jump for a Bollywood movie with a double-digit start. ## According to early estimates, the film has scored in the range of 21-22+ crores net on Saturday, which takes its total collection to around 32 crores net in 2 days. The third instalment of it was recently confirmed for October 2, 2026, release. According to the report by Pinkvilla, the movie will start its shooting journey exactly a year before its theatrical debut. ## "The Gandhi Jayanti date holds a lot of significance for the Drishyam franchise (those who have watched would know why), and hence, the makers are embarking on the journey for the final Drishyam film from October 2, 2025", says the report. ## Ajay Devgn has already reportedly allotted his dates for Drishyam 3, which will be shot at real locations of Maharashtra, as well as the studio set up during a marathon schedule, spanning 3 months. Hyderabad, June 21 - Tamil star Dhanush returns to Telugu cinema with director Sekhar Kammula's action thriller Kuberaa, after scoring a blockbuster with his debut Telugu film in the form of Vaathi/SIR (2023). The movie also stars Telugu veteran Nagarjuna, Rashmika Mandanna, and Jim Sarbh in prominent roles. ## Kuberaa has been making noise for the last couple of weeks after the release of the teaser and trailer, which perfectly set the tone for the movie to score a big opening. It was also released in Telugu and Tamil, in which, it has earned around 15-20 lakh collection. The trade was expecting an 8-9 crores opening, so considering that, it is a decent start. ## The opening of Sitaare Zameen Par is almost in the same range as Aamir's last film, Laal Singh Chaddha, which scored around 11.75 crores net in all versions. But the Maddock has now decided to postpone Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor's film. ## Producer Dinesh Vijan of Maddock believes that Param Sundari has a strong chance of succeeding at the box office, and he doesn’t want it to get lost in a crowded release schedule. Both SOS2 and Param Sundari are in the same genre, but the former has more face value due to star power and franchise. ## Vijan has strategically opted to reposition the film to ensure it receives the attention it deserves, both for its narrative and its music. Los Angeles, June 20 - Director James Gunn's Superman is possibly looking to score the biggest opening for a solo Superman movie at the domestic box office after the superhero movie arrived on tracking three weeks before the release. ## Starring David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Superman is the first movie under the new DC Studios, headed by James Gunn and Peter Safran. Directed by Gunn, the movie is hot in the trade with a record opening in sight. ## According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie is tracking to open in the $135 million range at the domestic (North America) box office. The projected figures are from the leading tracking service, the National Research Group, as per THR. ## NRG always provides a range in addition to a solo number; in this case, the range for Superman's domestic opening is $125 million to $145 million. Meanwhile, the insiders at DC Studios and Warner Bros. are not looking too far and are being more conservative in suggesting a $90 million to $125 million opening. ## The projection suggests Superman could emerge as one of the biggest DC openers of all time.
