The Kerala Story First Monday Early Estimates

Mumbai, May 8 - The Kerala Story has been assured to score a huge lifetime total after showing a remarkable hold on its first working day, Monday. The movie had an excellent first weekend with 35.25 crores net coming in. ## Despite facing bans and backlash, The Kerala Story scored is showing a jump of around 30% on Monday from Friday for an estimated 10-11+ crores net, which is phenomenal, to say the least. The drop from Sunday is around 30% which shows the power of solid word of mouth. ## Directed by Sudipto Sen, TKS is going The Kashmir Films' way which created a sensation last year. TKF, however, had a lower opening but was unstoppable after the opening day, and the same is seem to be happening with TKS. The total collection of the film stands at 46 crores net after today's collection. ## TKS is performing very well everywhere, especially in the Maharashtra region. Even in Kerala state, which is the core plot of the film's story, TKS is performing well on the limited shows available. The movie, however, is not able to get more shows due to the boycott it is facing in the state. ## The lifetime collection of the film is hard to predict as this sort of film doesn't follow a pattern but it is certain to cross 100 crores and even 200 crores net collection is looking well within the reach. John Wick Franchise Passed $1 Billion At The Global Box Office

Los Angeles, May 20 - Lionsgate Films' action thriller franchise John Wick has crossed the $1 billion mark at the global box office through the 4 films released so far in the series. ## John Wick is one of the most profitable action film franchises of all time. The combined budget of the 4 films in the series is around $230 million while the total gross collection now stands at $1.01 billion, including $425 million for the 4th installment. ## The first film in the series, "John Wick" was released in 2014 and grossed $87.08 million at the global box office against a budget of around $20 million. The domestic and overseas grosses of the film were almost similar at $43 million and $44.08 million, respectively. ## The sequel to "John Wick" debuted in 2017 and cost around $40 million to bring to the big screen. The movie topped the grosses of the first film by more than double margin and scored $171.50 million worldwide, including $92 million domestically and $79.50 million overseas. ## The trade of topping the collection of its predecessor continued with "John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum" (2019) which breached the $200 million as well as $300 million mark for the franchise globally. Against the budget of $70 million, the movie scored $326.70 million, including $171 million domestically and $155.70 million overseas. ## The 4th and latest in the franchise, "John Wick - Chapter 4" was released in March this year and still playing in a handful of cinemas with a worldwide total currently standing at $425.30 million. Domestically, it is the highest-grossing film in the series with $184 million while it is also the biggest overseas as well with $241.30 million. Mumbai, May 8 - Filmmaker Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer is one of the most-anticipated films releasing this summer. The biographical film is based on the 2005 book American Prometheus by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin. ## The film follows the life of theoretical physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer, played by Cillian Murphy, the director of the Los Alamos Laboratory during the Manhattan Project in World War II, and his contributions that led to the creation of the atomic bomb.## Ahead of the film's theatrical debut on July 21, 2023, "Oppenheimer" gets a new explosive trailer. The trailer was already leaked yesterday which gives us a peek at the atomic bomb test itself. Box Office: Diljit Dosanjh's Period Romance Film 'Jodi' Scored Excellent Opening Weekend Worldwide

New Delhi, May 8 - Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh's long-awaited period romantic film Jodi finally dropped in theaters this weekend after going through multiple delays. ## A local court of Ludhiana recently stayed the release of the film over copyright claims. It, however, was released as scheduled after the issues were resolved and now, the movie is rocking at the box office, thanks to the rock-solid critics' reviews and positive audience word of mouth.## Written and directed by Amberdeep Singh, "Jodi" had a good opening despite the delayed release and scored around 65 lacs net, before showing a big jump on Saturday and Sunday for a very good weekend total of around 3.35 crores net or around 4 crores gross collection in India. ## Just like most Punjabi movies, "Jodi" struck a big opening weekend overseas with an estimated 8 crores gross collection. In North America, it grossed a huge $734K (6 crores) on just 125 screens, with a brilliant $5.75k per-theater average gross, according to Deadline. ## The worldwide total of the film is around 12 crores gross after the opening weekend, and it is already the second highest-grossing Punjabi movie of the year, behind Blockbuster "Kali Jotta" which grossed over 40 crores worldwide. Mumbai, May 7 - The Kerala Story records a fantastic opening weekend at the domestic box office with an estimated 35+ crores net coming in over a 3-day weekend. ## After 19.25 crores net in the first two days, the drama film sees another big jump of around 40% for an estimated 16+ crores net on its third day or first Sunday. The jump on Sunday is in similar lines as Saturday. The 3 days total collection of The Kerala Story is approx. 35.25 crores net, which is easily the 4th biggest Bollywood opening of the year and beats most of the mainstream movies. ## Interestingly, The Kerala Story comfortably beats Marvel Studios Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 which was easily the biggest movie this weekend at the Indian box office. Despite the positive reviews and word of mouth, GoTG3 scores an estimated 24 crores net in all versions. ## The Kerala Story, meanwhile, has already turned successful venture for the makers as the budget of the film is not that much. Los Angeles, May 7 - Marvel Studios and Disney's Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 launched to more than expected $289.30 million at the worldwide box office, including $118.40 million domestically (North America) over the 3-day weekend. ## The James Gunn-directed superhero movie opened in the projected lines at the domestic box office, which is the second biggest opening of the year, behind "The Super Mario Bros. Movie's" $146 million. The third installment in the GoTG franchise, however, fell well short of the $146 million opening of "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" (2017). ## The movie is carrying super positive word of mouth which is promising enough for the movie to dream for a long run. It is having 95% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes along with an "A" CinemaScore (only the third Marvel movie to get A post-pandemic). ## At the international box office, "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" crushed industry projections with a huge $170.90 million from 52 markets over the 5-day weekend and beats the likes of "Ant-Man 3" ($121.3M), "Thor: Love And Thunder" ($159M) and "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" ($150M). ## "GoTG3", however, underperformed in India with an estimated $3.50 million over a 3-day weekend, one of the lowest openings for a Marvel movie in the post covid era. ## The top 10 international markets of GoTG3 are as follows - 1. China ($28.10M), 2. the UK ($14.20M), 3. Korea ($13.60M), 4. Mexico ($13M), 5. France ($8.20M), 6. Germany ($7.30M), 7. Australia ($7M), 8. Brazil ($6.70M), 9. Japan ($5M), 10. 'Ponniyin Selvan - Part 2' Crosses 100 Crores Gross At The Tamil Nadu Box Office

Chennai, May 7 - Mani Ratnam's historical action drama film Ponniyin Selvan - Part 2 is continuing with its strong performance at the domestic as well as overseas box office. ## The second and final part of "Ponniyin Selvan" is nearing 300 crores, currently stands at around 282 crores in 9 days, at the worldwide box office, and is likely to reach there by today or tomorrow. The first part, which was released in September last year, grossed close to 500 crores worldwide and the second part is also turning out to be a big money spinner. ## Meanwhile, "PS-2" has crossed 100 crores gross collection in Tamil Nadu, becoming the 3rd film of the year to do so after Thalapathy Vijay's "Varisu" and Ajith Kumar's "Thunivu". Mani Ratnam's directorial reached the 100 crores mark on its 9th day and currently stands at a little over 102 crores. ## "PS-1" had taken just 5 days to breach the 100 crores gross mark and went on to gross over 200 crores in Tamil Nadu. It is the only film in the history of Indian cinema to breach the double-century mark in the state. The movie was produced by YRF and went on to gross over 1050 crores worldwide. ## Shah Rukh Khan is now gearing up for his next, titled "Jawan" and Yash Raj Films has decided to distribute this highly-anticipated action entertainer in the international markets. The movie is directed by Atlee Kumar and produced by SRK's home banner Red Chillies Entertainer. ## It was recently reported that Aditya Chopra's YRF had offered to release "Jawan" internationally as a thank-you gesture for "Pathaan" historic success and now, it has officially been confirmed. FYI, "Pathaan" was distributed by YRF on its own worldwide and it grossed over 390 crores at the overseas box office. ## "Jawan" is scheduled to release on September 7, 2023, after it was postponed from its originally announced June 2 release. Pictures' horror thriller Evil Dead Rise, which was almost landed directly on streaming, has become the highest-grossing film in the Evil Dead franchise at the domestic as well as the worldwide box office. ## The fifth installment in the series, "Evil Dead Rise" has crossed the $100 million mark at the worldwide box office, surpassing the lifetime total of $97.50 million of the 4th film "Evil Dead" which was released in 2013. The total worldwide cume of the film reached $114.80 million, including $60.70 million internationally through the third weekend.## The Lee Cronin-directed film is projected to reach $54+ million at the domestic (North America) box office by 3rd Sunday and is likely to top fourth "Evil Dead's" lifetime domestic haul of $54.20 million to become the biggest film in the series domestically as well. ## The original "Evil Dead" was directed by Sam Raimi in 1981, and earned $2.90 million worldwide. Raimi went on to make "Evil Dead 2" in 1987, which earned $5.90 million worldwide, and "Army of Darkness" in 1992, which made $11.50 million, before Fede Álvarez directed the 4th installment. ## Interestingly, "Evil Dead Rise" has emerged as a surprise blockbuster in India with an estimated gross total of $4 million through the 3rd Sunday.
