'Godzilla x Kong' Sequel Gets Official Title and Release Date

Los Angeles, May 10 - Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures have announced the official first look title of its next Monsterverse film, the sequel to Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (2024). ## Directed by Grant Sputore, the film has been titled as Godzilla x Kong: Supernova, and it is currently in production. The movie will hit the big screen on March 26, 2027, the studio re-confirmed its previous release date announcement. ## Along with the title announcement, a short teaser was also released, which shows an office for Monarch, the shadowy organisation that tracks the gigantic, city-destroying monsters called Titans, where a computer gives a real-life hotline that fans can call to receive an automated message. Warner Bros. Sets Release Dates For 'Dune' Director Denis Villeneuve's Next and 'Godzilla and Kong 3'

Los Angeles, June 29 - Warner Bros. Pictures has set a holiday release for the Dune director, Denis Villeneuve's next feature, described as an "event film". The studio announced that it will hit screens on December 18, 2026, and be produced by Legendary Pictures.## Villeneuve last directed, Dune: Part 2 which was a mega hit. The details about the filmmaker's next have not been revealed yet but it was recently reported that that he was working on a nuclear war and that Dune 3 would not be his immediate next. ## Even though the filmmaker stated that he would not touch Dune anytime soon, The Hollywood Reporter reports that Villeneuve may have had a change of heart and could be turning his attention back to finishing this sci-fi adventure franchise, before taking up the nuclear war movie. ## Dune 2, released in March this year, was a mega box office hit with $711 million worldwide against a budget of $190 million. It is currently the second highest-grossing movie of 2024 worldwide, behind Inside Out 2. The first Dune movie was released during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021 and grossed $407 million globally while simultaneously having a day and date release on streaming. ## Warner Bros. Pictures has also announced the release date of the Legendary's next MonsterVerse film. Touted as the sequel to another mega hit of this year Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, the movie will hit theatres on March 26, 2027. Mumbai, June 10 - Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures' Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire has become the highest-grossing Monsterverse film ever, beating 2017's Kong Skull Island, at the worldwide box office.## Directed by Adam Wingard, Godzilla x Kong has surpassed Skull Island, which grossed $568.6 million at $570 million (4760 crores). The latest blockbuster has minted $196.3 million (1640 crores) in North America and $373.7 million (2120 crores) at the overseas box office. ## Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is the highest-grossing MonsterVerse film in as many as 35 markets, including India where it has grossed 134 crores ($16 million). A Follow Up To Godzilla x Kong Film Is Officially In Development

Mumbai, May 11 - In the wake of the mega box office success of Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, a new film in the MonsterVerse has officially been tapped at Legendary/Warner Bros. Studios, according to a report by The Hollywood Reporter.## According to THR, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings screenwriter Dave Callaham has been roped in to write the script for Godzilla x Kong's follow-up. Director Adam Wingard is expected to return at the next film in the series, however, the filmmaker has no deal at this stage. ## Godzilla x Kong, which was released in March, has performed excellently at the worldwide box office. The movie has grossed close to $550 million globally, including $190 million at the domestic (North America) box office. Mumbai, April 27 - Warner Bros./Legendary Pictures' Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire has topped 100 crores net collection at the Indian box office, becoming the first Hollywood movie of 2024 and the first ever in the MonsterVerse to achieve the feat. ## The Adam Wingard's directorial blockbuster has grossed over 120 crores (100+ crores net) at the Indian box office in 29 days. In its 4th week, the movie grossed around 8 crores, dropping around 38% despite the arrival of the new Indian releases. ## India has been one of the biggest overseas markets for Godzilla x Kong. The movie was released on March 29 and scored 69+ crores gross collection in the first week. It is the highest-grossing MonsterVerse film in India, beating its predecessor which grossed around 70 crores back in 2021. ## Godzilla x Kong will be topping 100 crores gross in India during its third weekend. The second highest-grossing Hollywood movie of the year is Kung Fu Panda 4 which has grossed around 40 crores so far. Dune: Part 2. ## The sequel to Godzilla vs. Kong (2021) scored mighty an estimated $194 million (1620 crores) on global opening weekend, the second biggest ever for MonsterVerse just behind 2014's Godzilla ($196M). It easily beats Dune 2 which scored ($182.5M) earlier this month to score the biggest opening weekend of 2024. ## Godzilla x Kong roared to $80 million (670 crores) opening weekend at the domestic (North America) box office, the second biggest in 2024 behind Dune 2's $82.5 million.
