Box Office: Srikanth Tops 50 Crore Gross Worldwide

Mumbai, May 30 - Rajkummar Rao's biographical drama Srikanth has emerged as a surprise winner of the year as the movie has topped 50 crores gross collection at the worldwide box office amid low expectations. ## Directed by Tushar Hiranandani, Srikanth grossed approximately 49.50 crores worldwide, including 47 crores domestically and an estimated 2.50 crores overseas in the first 20 days. It has topped the 50 crores gross mark on its third Thursday (21st day). ## Srikanth is only the second film of Rajkummar Rao to reach the mini milestone of 50 crores worldwide after Stree in a leading role. The actor played a supporting role in Bareilly Ki Barfi which grossed approximately 58.60 crores worldwide. ## Produced by T-Series and Chalk and Cheese Films, Srikanth has benefitted from the open run due to the lack of notable releases over the last few weeks. Mumbai, May 29 - Rajkummar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor-starrer sports romantic drama Mr and Mrs Mahi is coming to woo the audience in the scorching heat on May 31st. The movie, directed by Sharan Sharma, pairs Rajkummar and Janhvi for the first time and it seems this jodi will bring some good news at the box office. ## Produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, Mr and Mrs Mahi is set for a good opening at the box office, thanks to Cinema Lovers Day on which the ticket prices have been kept at just Rs. 99/ticket. The benefit of the discounted offer is already being seen in advance sales of the movie which is one of the best in the last two months. ## Mr & Mrs Mahi has sold over 150K tickets at the three national chains (PVR, INOX, and Cinepolis) and with few hours still left for the release, the pre-sales are heading towards finishing around 200K tickets at national chains which is fantastic for a mid-range film. ## In a normal scenario, the pre-sales of Mr and Mrs Mahi could have guaranteed a double-digit opening but the fact that the discounted prices are the main reason behind it, the double-digit start at the domestic box office may not be a reality. ## Recently, Yami Gautam-fronted Article 370 released amid such a scenario and took the opening of approximately 6 crores net, and Mr and Mrs Mahi, which is having a better trend in the pre-sales, is very much in the race to start somewhere between 6-7 crores net which will be a good start, against what could have with regular prices. ## The movie is censored with a clean 'U' certificate with an approved runtime of 2 hours and 19 minutes. Mumbai, May 29 - IMDb has unveiled the list of the top 100 most viewed Indian stars of the last decade (2014-2024) and the list is topped by Deepika Padukone, who debuted in 2007 with Om Shanti Om. Deepika's co-star, Shah Rukh Khan takes the second spot. ## The first 10 most viewed Indian stars are the ones who have worked in the Hindi film industry for the major part of their career. Former Miss World and legendary actress, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is in the third spot, followed by Alia Bhatt and late Irrfan Khan, at number 4 and 5, respectively. ## The other stars in the top 10 are Aamir Khan at 6, the late Sushant Singh Rajput at 7, Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan, and Akshay Kumar at 8-10, respectively. Mumbai, May 28 - Aamir Khan's production venture Laapataa Ladies has become the most-watched Indian film of 2024 on Netflix by beating Hrithik Roshan's Fighter.## Directed by Kiran Rao, Laapataa Rao added another 1.9 million views in its fifth week (May 20 - May 26) which took its total viewership to 15.7 million views in 31 days to become the most-watched Indian title of 2024 on Netflix after beating Fighter (14 million views). ## Meanwhile, Ajay Devgn-fronted Shaitaan has also crossed Fighter and is now the second most-watched Indian movie of the year. The horror thriller added 1.8 million views in its 4th week to push its total viewership to 14.8 million in 24 days. ## Interestingly, the top 5 most-watched Indian films of 2024 on Netflix were first released in theatres before going to the streamer. It was the 5th most-watched non-English film worldwide during the same week. ## The comedy-drama crossed the viewership of Ranbir Kapoor and Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Animal which scored 13.6 million views on Netflix. It is expected to remain in the top 10 in the next week as well and if this happens, it will be the most-watched Indian title of 2024 on the streamer. ## Ajay Devgn-fronted Shaitaan will also be looking to become the most-watched Indian film by next week. The movie was a huge box office success and Anirudh's BGM got high praise among the mass audiences. ## According to the latest report by Pinkvilla, Anirudh is set to reunite with SRK for his next film titled King. To be directed by Sujoy Ghosh, King will mark SRK's daughter Suhana Khan's big-screen debut. ## "King is a one of its kind action thriller, that will introduce a new flavour of action to the audience. The movie scored 3.2 million views in its opening weekend on Netflix and allied to the second week, the total viewership reached 9.8 million views in 10 days. ## Shaitaan was the second most-watched non-English film worldwide during the week of May 6 - May 12 on Netflix. Mumbai, May 13 - Bollywood star Ajay Devgn's supernatural thriller Shaitaan has almost done with its theatrical run but not before emerging as a big box office success in India and worldwide. The movie has now been made available to stream online, after 8 weeks of theatrical run. ## Directed by Vikas Bahl, Shaitaan minted approximately 50 lakh in its 9th week (the first week after the OTT release) and it dropped further in the 10th weekend for just around 8 lakh net collection. Nonetheless, the movie has done more than it was once projected with a net collection of close to 150 crores. ## At the end of its 10th weekend, Shaitaan scored approximately 148 crores net (176 crores gross) which will more or less be its final total at the domestic box office. It is currently the second highest-grossing Bollywood movie of the year domestically after Hrithik Roshan's Fighter. ## Overseas, the movie has grossed an estimated 37.50 crores, for worldwide approximately 213.50 crores gross. Mumbai, May 10 - The heist comedy Crew starring Tabu, Kareena Kapoor, and Kriti Sanon has topped 150 crores gross collection at the worldwide box office, becoming just the third Bollywood movie of the year after Fighter and Shaitaan to achieve the feat. ## Directed by Rajesh A Krishnan, the movie continues to score well in India due to the lack of competition. In its 6th week, Crew scored approximately 2.10 crores net (2.50 crores gross) pushing the total collection to 80.90 crores net (95.50 crores gross) in 42 days. ## Overseas, Crew has grossed an estimated 55 crores for worldwide 150+ crores. Mumbai, May 8 - It has been a struggling ride for Bollywood star Ajay Devgn's sports biopic Maidaan at the box office. Despite the advantage of the Eid holidays, the movie opened to a poor collection and never bounced back despite the open run. ## Directed by Amit Sharma, Maidaan has topped the 50 crore net mark on its 29th day which is no longer a milestone. Ideally, the current total of Maidaan should have been its opening weekend collection given the Eid holidays but that is a gone case. ## Eid has always been a lucrative festival for Bollywood regarding the box office as Salman Khan films have historically done well on this particular festival, however, 2024 proved different as both big releases, Maidaan and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan bombed without even putting up a fight. ## With the bombing of Maidaan and BMCM along with other films also not doing well, the month of April has been a nightmare for theatres with not much return.
