Mumbai, June 19 - Director Rajesh A Krishnan's Crew has become the most-watched Indian film of 2024 on Netflix, surpassing the total reported viewership of Aamir Khan's production venture, Laapataa Ladies in just 24 days. ## The heist comedy, starring Tabu, Kareena Kapoor, and Kriti Sanon, Crew added 1.2 million views from June 10 - June 16, taking its total views to 17.9 million in 24 days. Laapataa Ladies had scored 17.1 million views during its stay in the top 10 on Netflix and is now the second most-watched Indian title of the year. ## Crew premiered on Netflix on May 24 after completing 8 weeks of the theatrical run with over 150 crores in gross collection at the worldwide box office. On its Netflix premiere, the movie scored 5.4 million views in the opening weekend, followed by 8.9 million views in the first full week, and 2.4 million in the next week. ## Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff's Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, a box office disaster, scored 8 million views in the first 10 days on Netflix. Mumbai, June 17 - Over the last many months, the Telugu film industry has been buzzing with the potential collaboration between superstar Allu Arjun and blockbuster director Atlee. The project was almost finalized and was supposed to go on floors by the end of this year, but now, there is a disappointing update on the same. ## According to the report by Telugu 360, Allu Arjun's film with Atlee has been shelved after the director's huge remuneration demand which shocked the producers. However, another report claimed that the project fell through simply because it did not align with the actor and director's preferences. ## After Allu Arjun dropped the movie, Atlee is believed to have approached Bollywood superstar Salman Khan to headline and Telugu 360 reported that the superstar has given his nod and the movie will be announced soon. Sun Pictures will reportedly be producing the film which is expected to go on floors in the first quarter of 2025. ## Salman Khan, meanwhile, has started shooting for director AR Murugadoss' action drama Sikandar which has Rashmika Mandanna as the female lead. Mumbai, June 16 - Kartik Aaryan's Chandu Champion scores another much-needed growth on its first Sunday to take the opening weekend past 20 crores net mark which can be seen as some sort of recovery after the slow start, however, the overall collection still below expectations. ## After scoring a jump close to 50% on Saturday, the biographical sports drama witnesses another around 40% jump on Sunday for an estimated 9.75-10.25 crores net, pushing opening weekend to around 21.75 crores. There is a holiday tomorrow due to Bakrid so a hold is expected. ## The positive word of mouth has helped Chandu Champion to recover its lost ground to some extent, however, the movie still needs to perform very well beyond the weekend. Mumbai, June 15 - After the low start, Kartik Aaryan-fronted Chandu Champion shows a much-needed growth of around 40% on its second day which is a good recovery but the overall collection is still not big enough to cover the lost ground. ## Kabir Khan's directorial benefits from positive word-of-mouth as it collects around 6.50-7 crores net on its first Saturday, as per early estimates. Ideally, this should have been the opening day figure to set the tone for a good opening weekend but that is not the case. ## Chandu Champion's total collection after 2 days is around 11.50 crores. It can still manage to score a decent weekend if it can see a similar or better jump on Sunday which is very much possible given Monday is a holiday. The 3-day opening weekend is heading for 19-20+ crores while the extended weekend could be around 25+ crores. ## The positive word of mouth is clearly showing its effect but the real test for the movie will begin after Monday Bakrid holiday. Mumbai, June 14 - Kartik Aaryan-fronted biographical sports drama Chandu Champion has taken a slow start at the domestic box office as the movie couldn't generate much pre-release excitement among the moviegoers. ## The movie had low pre-sales which confirmed a low opening but there were hopes that things would improve with positive word-of-mouth which wasn't the case at least on the first day as early estimates suggest opening in around 4.50-5 crores net. The makers did try to lure the audience by keeping the ticket prices low for the first day only but it had less impact. ## The good thing for the movie is that the reception is seemingly positive among the general audiences so box office prospects may improve over the weekend which is a must. Mumbai, June 14 - On the 27th anniversary of the epic war drama Border, filmmaker JP Dutta joined hands with Bhushan Kumar of T-Series to announce its sequel with Sunny Deol returning to reprise the role from the first movie.## Kersari fame Anurag Singh will direct Border 2 which begins filming by the end of this year or early 2025. There have been reports that the movie will be released on Republic Day 2026 and now, the makers have officially confirmed the same. ## It has been revealed that India's biggest war movie will be released on January 23 (Friday), 2026, during the Republic Day weekend. It will enjoy the 4-day extended weekend during which it will look to shatter box office records left, right, and centre. ## The makers haven't announced the rest of the cast but it is said that Ayushmann Khurrana will play one of the prominent roles. Mumbai, June 13 - Producer Dinesh Vijan's horror-comedy Munjya ends the opening week with a fantastic collection of over 35 crores net after the miraculous trend during the weekdays with almost no drop from Monday - Thursday. ## The Aditya Sarpotdar's directorial movie cleared the 35 crores mark after scoring an estimated 3.75-4 crores net on its first Thursday. Interestingly, or rather incredibly, the collection of Munjya remained in the range of the 4 crores mark which indicates a long run for the movie at the domestic box office. ## The opening week collection of Munjya is the 7th biggest first week total for a Bollywood movie of 2024. Mumbai, June 13 - Filmmaker J. P. Dutta has joined hands with producer Bhushan Kumar of T-Series to announce the sequel to War epic Border. The movie was announced on the 27th anniversary of the first movie which is one of the biggest Indian blockbusters ever. ## Sunny Deol, who scored a mega-blockbuster with Gadar 2 last year, will be returning to reprise his role as Maj. Kuldip Singh Chandpuri in Border 2 which will be directed by Anurag Singh and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta under the banners of T-Series and JP Films. ## The blockbuster sequel has been in the news since last and the makers finally made it official. Mumbai, June 10 - Maddock Films' horror-comedy Munjya sees an excellent collection on its first Monday, dropping around just 10% from Friday which is nothing short of a miraculous hold. There is an outside chance of Monday collection coming on par with the opening day. ## According to the early estimates, the latest entry in the horror-comedy universe scores 3.50-4 crores net collection, pushing the total to around 23 crores in 4 days. The drop from Sunday collection of 8 crores net is around 50% which is also fantastic, to say the least. ## Munjya is heading towards 31-33 crores net opening week which is outstanding and will aim to reach 50 crores net in the second week though it will have competition with Kartik Aaryan's Chandu Champion which is the first major release after gap. ## The movie emerged as a surprise hit as there were hardly any expectations for it to deliver at the box office before the trailer did some trick, plus, the affordable ticket prices also played a role in bringing the audience to theatres.
