Alia Bhatt's Spy Universe Film Gets Official Title

Mumbai, July 5 - Bollywood star Alia Bhatt, and Sharvari Wagh have officially been confirmed to headline Yash Raj Films' first female-led Spy Universe film, titled Alpha. The film is directed by The Railway Man director Shiv Rawail. ## The movie has been in the news since last year and now, on July 5, Yash Raj Films has announced the official title with a voice teaser and also confirmed the shooting commencement. ## In the teaser, Alia Bhatt can be heard saying, "The first letter of the Greek alphabet... and our program's motto - the first, the fastest, the strongest. Every city is an urban jungle, and in that jungle, the one who will always rule is... Alpha".## Alpha marks a significant shift for the action-packed YRF's Spy Universe series, which has previously centred on male protagonists. Tokyo, July 3 - Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's action thriller Jawan, one of India's all-time blockbusters, is all set to be released in Japan in November this year, 14 months after the movie's original release in September 2023. ## Directed by Tamil filmmaker Atlee, Jawan will be distributed by Twin Studio upon its release in Japan on November 29. Mumbai, July 2 - As the first half of 2024 comes to an end, it has been a decent year for the Bollywood/Hindi film industry at the box office with a couple of hits. The film industry left with a big disappointment after the disastrous performance of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Maidaan, but there were a couple of unexpected hits which kept the box office running. ## The highest-grossing Hindi film of the year so far is Hrithik Roshan's Fighter with over 350 crores in gross collection at the worldwide box office. Box Office: 'Kalki 2898 AD' First Monday Early Estimates

Mumbai, July 1 - After the fantastic opening weekend, Pan India superstar Prabhas-fronted sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD put up an excellent hold on its first Monday in the dubbed Hindi version with a drop of just around 20% from the opening day, Thursday. ## The Nag Ashwin's directorial blockbuster shows the power of super positive word of mouth as it scores an estimated 16.50-17.50 crores net collection. This takes the total Hindi collection of the film to around 128 crores in just 5 days as the first full week is heading for 160+ crores net. ## Despite coming after an extended weekend, the superb hold on Monday, be it single screens or multiplexes indicates a long run for the movie and with the current trend, it will reach 200 crores net in the second weekend itself. Thanks to its sensational run so far, it will beat all but Baahubali 2, RRR, and KGF 2 by the end of the first week to emerge as the 4th highest-grossing South Indian movie in Hindi. ## Apart from Hindi, Kalki 2898 AD also scored a decent hold in the other versions as all versions are estimated to be 40+ crores gross on the first Monday. Mumbai, June 29 - After the debacle box office performance of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar returns to the big screens with the drama film Sarfira directed by Tamil director Sudha Kongara. It is the remake of Kongara's Soorarai Pottru which starred Suriya in the lead role. ## Sarfira has managed to garner decent buzz after the well-received recently released trailer which has now become the most viewed Hindi trailer in 2024. Mumbai, June 25 - Kangana Ranaut, the recently elected member of parliament, has announced a new release date for his long-awaited biographical political drama Emergency on the day of the 50th year of The Emergency imposed in 1975 for two years by the then prime minister Indira Gandhi. ## The movie, which is written, directed and stars Kangana Ranaut as the late Indira Gandhi, was supposed to be released on June 14 but it will now hit worldwide theatres on September 6, 2024, and will have a solo release. Kangana has also produced it under her banner Manikarnika Films with EaseMyTrip. ## Emergency marks Kangana's second directorial venture after Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi which she co-directed with Krish Jagarlamudi in 2019. Now according to the report by Pinkvilla, Southern beauty Sreeleela has been roped in to play the female lead. ## Sreeleela has been super busy for the last couple of years in the Telugu film industry and is now set to make her mark in Bollywood with her debut outing opposite Varun Dhawan. Mumbai, June 24 - Maddock Films' Munjya has topped 100 crores gross at the worldwide box office, becoming the 7th Bollywood film of 2024 to achieve the feat. The horror-comedy entered the 100 crores gross club on its 17th day. ## Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, Munjya has approximately 98.35 crores gross (83.30 crores net) in India and an estimated 4.25 crores overseas for 102.60 crores worldwide gross through the third Sunday. It is the second movie in Maddock Films' horror-comedy universe to reach the 100 crores mark after Stree (182 crores).## Starring Abhay Verma, and Sharvari Wagh, Munjya is in the race to top 100 crores net collection. It is expected to reach around 90 crores mark by the end of the second week and then, the race to the century mark will begin thereafter. It will be a major competition next week in the form of Prabhas-fronted Kalki 2898 AD which releases on June 27. ## Munjya is the 4th film in the horror-comedy universe of producer Dinesh Vijan's Maddock Films after Stree, Roohi, and Bhediya. The filmmaker was supposed to follow with a film with Allu Arjun but he has reportedly backed out. ## After Allu Arjun pulled out of the film, Atlee reportedly approached superstar Salman Khan for his next which is said to be a 2-hero action entertainer. Now, according to the report by Bollywood Hungama, the filmmaker has approached megastar Rajinikanth to headline the film with Salman. ## It is said that the formal meeting of Atlee, Rajinikanth, and Salman Khan will happen next month and things are expected to turn out positive. "Sun Pictures will be producing the film and they share a family-like bond with superstar Rajinikanth. Atlee on the other hand has been in touch with Salman Khan for the last two years. Released in 2011, Rockstar won several national and international awards but was deemed average at the box office with a worldwide gross collection of around 110 crores. ## Rockstar gained popularity over the years and it has been more than a month since it was re-released in theatres and is safe to say that the movie has become a force at the box office on the limited showcasing which kept increasing week after week due to demand. ## The movie was re-released on over just 8 shows but due to high demand, it is currently playing on over 400+ shows daily. In 35 days, Rockstar has grossed approximately 7.50 crores (6.50 crores net) with a total of 9000+ shows played so far. The first-week collection of the movie is lower than the 2 weeks old horror-comedy Munjya's opening week collection which pretty much tells the story. ## Directed by Kabir Khan, Chandu Champion opened to positive reviews and word of mouth but things didn't go the way makers would have hoped for after receiving rave reviews, and as a result, it performed below the expectations. ## Post the COVID-19 pandemic, Chandu Champion has had the second lowest first-week scorer for Kartik Aaryan, ahead of just Shehzada which minted approximately 27.35 crores net first-week and 32 crores lifetime collection. Mumbai, June 21 - Director Aditya Sarpotdar's horror-comedy Munjya has become the second highest-grossing film in Maddock Films' horror-comedy universe, behind only Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao's Stree. ## The fourth film in the horror-comedy universe, Munjya has scored approximately 68 crores net collection in 2 weeks (14 days) and it will be crossing Bhediya (69 crores net) today to become the second biggest grosser in the series. Stree is currently on top with approximately 130 crores net. ## Munjya has had an excellent hold in the second week, dropping just 7.50% from the first week for approximately 32.65 crores net, despite the release of Kartik Aaryan's Chandu Champion which is a much bigger movie in terms of scale, budget and star power and also with positive reviews and word of mouth. ## The Abhay Verma and Sharvari Wagh-starrer are expected to remain strong in its third week in the absence of notable releases.
