Mumbai, August 15 - Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar was a real deal before the COVID-19 pandemic. The actor was giving hit after hit and one of the biggest of them, Mission Mangal was released on this day in 2019.## Directed by Jagan Shakti, the movie is based on the life of scientists at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) who contributed to India's first interplanetary expedition Mars Orbiter Mission. It also starred Vidya Balan, Sonakshi Sinha, Taapsee Pannu, Nithya Menen, Kirti Kulhari and Sharman Joshi in prominent roles.## Mission Mangal opened to positive reviews from critics and audiences alike which set the tone for the biggest opening for an Akshay Kumar-starrer with a huge 29+ crores net.
