Akshay Kumar's 'Sky Force' Release Postponed; Likely To Release In January 2025

Mumbai, August 25 - Bollywood star Akshay Kumar's action thriller Sky Force has been postponed from October 2nd release. Based on the true events of one of the deadliest air strikes by the Indian Air Force, the movie is directed by Abhishek Kapur and Sandeep Kewlani. ## Produced by Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films and Jio Studios, Sky Force was supposed to be the studios' next release after the latest box office sensation Stree 2 which has crossed 500 crores gross worldwide. While the reasons for the postponement are not known yet, reports say Sky Force will now be released in January 2025.## Interestingly, the promo of Sky Force was supposed to be attached with Stree 2 in theatres but was postponed, giving the first indication of its delay in the release. The Gandhi Jayanti weekend is now vacant as far as Bollywood is concerned and there are rumours that one big movie might shift to that slot. ## Akshay Kumar plays the role of an Air Force officer in the film which marks the acting debut of Veer Pahariya, the son of renowned businessman Sanjay Pahariya. Mumbai, August 24 - Humongous blockbuster Stree 2 hits the ball out of the park once again to score one of the biggest second Saturdays at the Hindi box office. Depending on how late-night shows go, the movie has a shot at scoring the biggest second Saturday ever in Hindi. ## The lack of competition and the universal acceptance of the movie, Stree 2 exploded today with a jump of nearing 100% which is truly out of the world as day-wise trending has been heavily frontloaded so far. According to early estimates, the horror-comedy scored in the range of 31-33 crores net on its 10th day.## The second Saturday (10th day) collection of Stree 2 is on par or slightly over the film's second-day collection of approx. 31.50 crores net. This has taken the total net collection of the film to around 341 crores net in just 10 days which is extraordinary. ## The second Sunday is expected to witness another good jump as there is a holiday on Monday, on account of Krishna Janmashtami, and the second weekend is heading for a massive 85-90 crores net. Mumbai, August 23 - Stree 2 has surpassed 300 crores net at the Indian box office after the sensational hold on its second Friday with collection more or less the same as yesterday. It has become the first film of 2024 to top 300 crores net in Hindi.## Starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, Stree 2 scored the opening week of over 291 crores net which is the 4th biggest ever in Hindi. Since there is no real competition to the movie at the moment, it is now a one-horse race and begins the second weekend with an estimated collection of around 16.50+ crores net.## The total collection of Stree 2 is around 308 crores net in 9 days, surpassing Kalki 2898 AD's 293+ crores net to become the biggest Hindi grosser of the year. Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan remains the biggest first-week grosser, followed by his Jawan at the second spot.## The box office juggernaut of Stree 2 began with the all-time record previews for an Indian movie with 8.50 crores net collection, followed by the biggest Independence opening day (excluding previews) of 51.80 crores net. It is already one of the biggest Indian blockbusters of all time.## The Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao-fronted blockbuster's 291.50 crores net (including approx. 16.80 crores net on the second Thursday) is the 4th biggest first week (including extended) ever in Hindi, after Pathaan, Jawan, and Animal. Interestingly, all these films were released in the last two years, including Gadar 2 which is 5th in this list.## Directed by Amar Kaushik, Stree 2 is the highest-grossing Indian horror-comedy film, miles ahead of Kartik Aaryan-fronted Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 which scored 184+ crores net collection in its lifetime run. The movie continues to trend above expectations during the weekdays after the heavily frontloaded holiday period of Independence Day and Raksha Bandhan. ## The horror-comedy starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao completes 7 days at the box office with a net collection of around 275 crores after an estimated 19-20 crores, with a drop of around 25% on its first Wednesday (7th day). It is one of the biggest non-opening Wednesdays at the Indian box office. ## Stree 2 will finish its 8-day extended first week with a collection of around 290 crores net and will break into the 300 crores net club by the second Friday. Earlier, it surpassed Fighter's domestic gross of 254 crores in 5 days. ## The sequel has grossed approximately 306 crores in India and an estimated 55 crores at the overseas box office for a worldwide cume of 361 crores in just 6 days. Mumbai, August 20 - Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao-fronted monstrous blockbuster Stree 2 has stormed past the 250 crores net collection after the extraordinary hold on its first working day, Tuesday with a drop of just around 35% from Monday. ## According to the early estimates, the horror-comedy scored in the range of 25 (+/-) crores net collection on its 6th day/first Tuesday. The hold becomes even more special knowing that the movie is coming after the heavily frontloaded holiday period of Independence Day and Raksha Bandhan.## The first Tuesday collection of Stree 2 takes its total to around 254 crores net in 6 days + previews. The movie will be aiming to finish its extended first week in the range of 285-290 crores net collection which is more than double the lifetime collection total of its predecessor (130 crores net).## Stree 2 will be crossing the 400 crores net collection mark in the second week and then will look to target the coveted 500 crores club. The movie has no real competition for, at least, two more weeks and that should be enough for it to achieve the magical box office milestone. ## Needless to say, Stree 2 is one of the rare mid-budget non-superstar films to score such a huge collection and it hasn't slowed down yet.
