Mumbai, November 11 - It was recently reported that actress Vidya Balan will be starring in a romantic-comedy film, based on modern relationships, alongside Pratik Gandhi, Ileana D' Cruz, and Indian-American sensation Sendhil Ramamurthy. And now, the makers have officially announced the film on Thursday (Nov. 11). ## The yet-untitled film is being directed by ad filmmaker, Shirsha Guha Thakurta and is produced by Applause Entertainment and Ellipsis Entertainment. The film is a progressive, uninhibited take on modern relationships. It is Vidya Balan's second collaboration with Ellipsis Entertainment after "Tumhari Sulu" and first with Applause Entertainment. ## Shirsha Guha Thakurta said, "When I first heard this story, I was instantly attracted to its universe- honest, funny and so today. The actors have been a dream to work with. Their generosity is something I will always cherish. My producers (Applause and Ellipsis) have been extremely supportive and stood by me like a rock. Mumbai, November 10 - Rohit Shetty-directed "Sooryavanshi" has done what other Bollywood films couldn't do in the last one and 1 half year. The Akshay Kumar-starrer cop drama becomes the first Hindi film during the covid-19 pandemic to cross ₹ 100 crores net at the domestic box office. ## The 4th installment in Shetty's cop universe, "Sooryavanshi" remained super solid on weekdays after taking the biggest 3-day opening weekend start for Akshay with ₹ 77.08 crores (Fri-Sun). It netted ₹ 14.51 crores on Monday (excellent by all means) and dropped 22.67% on Tuesday for ₹ 11.22 crores (another superb hold). The five-day total stands at ₹ 102.81 crores with a gross total of ₹ 122.50 crores. ## It has become the 93rd Hindi film to enter the 100 crore club. It also becomes the 15th 100 crore film for Akshay Kumar, jointly most with Salman Khan. For Rohit Shetty, it is hit 9th ₹ 100 crores netted film. Interestingly, all his last nine movies (including Sooryavanshi) have crossed ₹ 100 crore net at the box office while for Katrina Kaif, who plays the female lead, it is her 8th 100 crores netted film. ## Overseas, "Sooryavanshi" has earned approx ₹ 30 crores in the first five days, and takes its total worldwide collection to over ₹ 150 crores (₹ 152.50 crores). The opening week collection of "Sooryavanshi" is expected to finish in/over ₹ 120 crores, which will be an excellent box office response for the film. The Entire Shoot Of Prabhas-Fronted 'Adipurush' Is Completed

Mumbai, November 10 - The entire shoot of possibly the most-awaited and the biggest film of the Indian cinema, "Adipurush", led by Prabhas, has been completed on November 9. The magnum opus feature film was shot in over 100 days, after taking off in February this year. ## The shoot went through a lot of hurdles due to the covid-19 pandemic, but the makers have done very well to complete it 10 months before the release is planned. Kriti Sanon was the first to complete her portion, followed by Saif Ali Khan. Prabhas had wrapped his part on November 4. ## Directed by Tanhaji fame, Om Raut, "Adipurush" is an adaption of the Hindu epic Ramayana. Prabhas plays Lord Ram in the film while Kriti Sanon essays the role of Sita/Janaki. Saif Ali Khan, who played the antagonist Udaybhan Singh Rathore in Raut's Tanhaji, portrays Lankesh/Raavan in Adiupursh while Sunny Singh plays Laxman and Vatsal Sheth plays Indrajeet in the mega-budgeted film. ## "Adipurush" will be mounted on a heavy VFX, and as reported earlier, it will take nearly 10 months in post-production work. The good thing in favor of post-production is that the release date of Adipurush, which is set for 11 August 2022, is nearly 10 months from now, so it should be completely ready by then. ## It is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Om Raut, Prasad Sutar, and Rajesh Nair under the banners of T-series and Retrophiles. Adipurush is being made in 3D and has been shot in Hindi and Telugu simultaneously. The feature film, which is said to be titled "Three Monkeys", will go on floors on November 11 in Mumbai and will be shot over the next few months. ## "The Abbas Mustan duo is getting back to the thriller space with Three Monkeys. The script work is done and the duo is currently all geared up to commence shooting from November 11", according to Pinkvilla. The report further said that the film is a robbery-based thriller on the lines of Money Heist. ## "It's actually on the lines of Money Heist with the premise revolving around three male protagonists and a professor, who is a mastermind of the robbery. Mumbai, November 9 - The makers of Kangana Ranaut-fronted "Dhaakad" are joining hands for a new film. While "Dhaakad" is months away from the release, producer Sohel Maklai, and director Razneesh 'Razy' Ghai have confirmed that they are teaming up for a war film that will be based on the story of Rezang La’s battle that was the sole high point for India in 1962 Indo-China war. ## Talking about the new film, Razneesh said, "It's a classic David-versus-Goliath story. The war story teaches young people the true value of the Army. The story of 120 soldiers fighting against all odds demands to be told sincerely on the big screen. It's set in the 60s, so recreating that era will take some time". ## The movie will be produced by Sohel Maklai and Razneesh 'Razy' Ghai's new company Ikigai Motion Pictures while Rajiv G Menon will pen the screenplay. The casting of the film will be announced soon as Razneesh Ghai revealed that he is in talks with an A-list star to play the main role. Shooting will begin in the second half of 2022.## "Just a good story doesn't cut it anymore. A film has to offer scale, performances, and action that matches the international standards", added the director. "War films in India usually aren’t mounted on a [grand canvas]. Mumbai, November 8 - For the first time in many many years, the Diwali festival in 2020, went without a single big release for the Indian film industry, all because of the covid-19 pandemic that brought the world to its knees. Things, however, have become much easier a year later, and the film industry is rejoicing like it always used to be. ## The year 2021 can be defined in two phases for the film industry, first, before the second covid wave, and second, after the second wave. The first phase was much bigger than the second one (as of now) in terms of the box office business. During that period, there were some big stars' films as well as mid to low-budget films that surprised with the box office numbers and became one of the biggest box office stories of the year. ## During the first phase, Thalapathy Vijay's Tamil actioner "Master" was the highest-grossing film, and the only Indian film of 2021 so far to cross ₹ 200 crores worldwide. It became a box office blockbuster and generated ₹ 223 crores at the global box office. Superstar Pawan Kalyan's Telugu flick "Vakeel Saab", which is the remake of Amitabh Bachchan-starrer "Pink", was another film to cross ₹ 100 crores at the box office. ## While the aforementioned films featured one of the biggest stars of Indian cinema, films like "Uppena", "Jathi Ratnalu", and "Naandhi", among a couple of others, haven't been led by big names but became box office blockbusters. Combined, the first phase generated a little over ₹ 1000 crores, which is nice as it gave something to cheer to the film industry, but was still far behind from what it used to be in the pre-covid era. ## The second phase has begun on a much bigger promising note and looking way brighter going forward. After the second wave, the Telugu movie "Love Story" starring Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi, became the first superhit grossed nearly ₹ 60 crores worldwide. Sivakarthikeyan's Tamil movie "Doctor" has turned out to be one of the true box office stories and became the first ₹ 100 crores grosser after the second wave. ## However, it was the Diwali festival, that truly set the ball rolling, especially, for the Hindi film industry in form of "Sooryavanshi". With a combined total domestic gross of over ₹ 220 crores during the Diwali weekend (Thu-Sun), the festival of lights is really turning out to be the biggest hope for the film industry. ## Superstar Rajinikanth's long-awaited "Annaatthe" was finally released on November 4 and it set the box office on fire. With over ₹ 96 crore gross in the first 4-days (Thu-Sun), Siva-directed gained the top spot over the weekend, followed by another most-awaited Bollywood biggie "Sooryavanshi", which grossed ₹ 92 crores in just 3-days (Fri-Sun) at the Indian box office. ## "Sooryavanshi" was always looked at as the potential blockbuster and it performed in that way. Director Rohit Shetty and Akshay Kumar waited for more than 18 months to bring this cop-drama to the big screens and their wait literally paid off in the best way possible. It has already become the highest-grossing Bollywood film since the beginning of the pandemic. ## Marvel Studios regains its supremacy at the Indian box office with its latest superhero offering "Eternals". Despite the limited release and tough competition in North and South, Chole Zhao-directed was the third-best film during the Diwali weekend and grossed ₹ 22.2 crores over the weekend (Fri-Sun). Among the other top grosser, Tamil movie "Enemy" nabbed 4th spot with ₹ 16.10 crores in the 4-day weekend (Thu-Sun). ## Talking about Akshay Kumar-fronted "Sooryavanshi", it was the best foot forward by Bollywood to revive the box office business and it has passed this test in flying colors. The success of "Sooryavanshi" has come at a time when Bollywood will be releasing a number of films in the next 6-7 months. Mumbai, November 8 - Akshay Kumar-starrer "Sooryavanshi" continued its run riot at the box office and remained solid throughout the opening weekend for a massive ₹ 77.08 crores (Fri-Sun). The opening weekend collection of "Sooryavanshi" is more than double of Akshay's last release "Bell Bottom's" lifetime total of ₹ 33.31 cr. Bell Bottom, however, was released under more restrictions and without Maharasthra. ## "Sooryavanshi", directed by Rohit Shetty, was looked at as the biggest hope for the Bollywood film industry to set the ball rolling, and it performed accordingly or perhaps better than that. The cop-drama emerged as the biggest opening weekend at the domestic box office for Akshay Kumar, for a film that was released on Friday. Overall, it is the 4th biggest opening weekend grosser for Akshay after "2.0" (Thu-Sun), "Mission Mangal" (Thu-Sun), and "Kesari" (Thu-Sun). ## The 4th installment in Rohit Shetty's cop universe, "Sooryavanshi" performed like a pre-covid era or maybe better than that. It was released with just 50% occupancy in the biggest movie market for Hindi films, Maharasthra, and still managed to collect over ₹ 15 crores in the market in the first three days. ## Overseas, it earned an additional ₹ 24.4 crores, helping its total worldwide collection to reach a nice ₹ 116.40 crores gross, including ₹ 92 crores gross in India alone. The action drama film, directed by Siva, is having a superb run at the Indian as well as overseas box office and crossed the Rs. 100 crores mark in just three days of release. ## Touted as an outright mass entertainer, "Annaatthe", took the opening of Rs. 50.70 crores worldwide, including Rs. 35.28 crores gross in India. Mumbai, November 6 - Akshay Kumar-starrer "Sooryavanshi" has created records in many ways, and one of them was recorded on the ticketing site, Book My Show. ## The website officially announced that over 700K tickets of Rohit Shetty-directed were sold in less than 24 hours on November 5, 17 tickets per second, making it the highest ever peak for a Hindi movie on Book My Show. The advance booking for Sooryavanshi in the multiplex chains was opened late on November 4, which was one of the reasons for the heavy traffic on the site. ## Apart from "Sooryavanshi", Book My Show also revealed that over 1 million tickets of Tamil movie "Annaatthe" starring superstar Rajinikanth, were sold as of November 5. This makes "Annaatthe" the first Indian movie to sell over 1 million tickets on BMS after the second covid-19 wave. ## Marvel Studios', "Eternals", too was in the race and sold over 500K tickets during the said time. Mumbai, November 5 - Rohit Shetty's "Sooryavanshi" featuring Akshay Kumar in the title role has been released in theaters on November 5 and it opened to a roaring response at the box office. "Sooryavanshi" is the 4th film in Shetty's cop universe, which began with Ajay Devgn-fronted "Singham" (2011). ## The sequel to Singham was released in 2014, titled "Singham Returns", and since then, there have been reports hinting about the third installment in the Singham franchise, but the film wasn't made official. However, with Sooryavanshi's release, Rohit Shetty has reportedly revealed the plans of Singham 3. ## "Singham was set in Goa, followed by Singham Returns which went a notch higher with the premise being set in Mumbai. And now, Rohit Shetty and Ajay Devgn are all set to take things to the next level as Singham 3 is set again the backdrop of terrorism with the protagonist traveling all the way to Pakistan to grab hold of terror outfits", a source told Pinkvilla. ## The story of Singham 3 is said to begin where Sooryavanshi ended and the film will see the royal face between Singham (Ajay Devgn) and Jackie Shroff. "The lion-hearted cop will be off to Pakistan Occupied Kashmir to trace down the head of terror outfits, who have an eye to destroy India from the world map", the source added.## In Simmba, featuring Ranveer Singh in the title role, Ajay Devgn played a cameo as Singham, and now in Sooryavanshi, both Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh played extended cameos in their respective cop roles. In Singham 3, the other two cops are likely to feature and join Ajay Devgn to take on the terrorists.## Singham 3 will go on floors in the last quarter of 2022, most likely by November, once Ajay completes his current slate of releases. Rohit Shetty, on the other hand, will first complete Ranveer Singh's comedy film Cirkus. After completing this film, he will reportedly head to his OTT debut as a producer with a cop series featuring Sidharth Malhotra. ## Stay tuned...
