CBFC Asks For Major Changes In Akshay Kumar-Starrer 'OMG 2': Report

Mumbai, July 26 - Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar's social comedy-drama "OMG 2" is scheduled to release on August 11 but the makers are yet to receive the censor certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).## It was recently reported that the Examining Committee (EC) of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) referred the Akshay Kumar-starrer to the Revising Committee (RC) due to its religious content. It has been reported that CBFC is being very careful about the movie as it feels "OMG 2" content is slightly controversial.## Now, according to Bollywood Hungama, the Revising Committee has suggested several changes in the films, which the makers are not comfortable with. "In all, the RC has asked for 20 cuts. These include both visual and audio deletions. On top of it, they have also suggested the makers opt for an adults-only certification", the report says.## The makers, however, are reportedly not ready for these many changes as they believe that it'll affect the essence of the film. They are also not okay with an "A" certificate. After all, they feel that the topic of sex education should be seen by people of all ages. ## The makers have been putting their efforts to get the movie censored as soon as possible so that they could release the trailer and have an on-scheduled release. It is directed by Amit Rai and is produced by Cape of Good Films, Viacom18 Studios, and Wakaoo Films. Chennai, July 26 - The sequel to Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan's vigilant action drama "Indian" (1996) has been in production for a long time. After many hurdles, "Indian 2" resumed filming last year and it is now scheduled to release in 2024 in theaters worldwide in multiple languages, including Hindi. ## Now, according to Pinkvilla, the makers have turned "Indian" franchise into a trilogy. Both movies are being shot simultaneously.## It is said that the story and points, Shankar and Kamal Haasan are trying to make through the movie will have a huge impact on society. There are several subplots in the premise that can't be completed in one film and need two parts to reach a conclusion.## "Shankar had 6 hours of footage for Indian and on seeing it, the entire team felt that there is a lot of potential in the subject to warrant a sequel. That's when Shankar hit the storyboard again to split all that was shot in a very organic manner into a two-part saga", the report says.## "Almost everything is in place for Indian 3. FEFSI Imposes Strict and Controversial Rules On Tamil Films

Chennai, July 26 - The Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI) is getting criticism from Tamil filmmakers after the federation introduced a new set of guidelines for Kollywood films going forward. ## According to new rules set by FEFSI (via News18), "only Tamil artists should be employed in Tamil movies" going forward. It has also made it mandatory that "Tamil film shoots should not be conducted in other states or foreign countries unless absolutely necessary". ## Additionally, the federation has insisted that "in cases where shoots exceed the scheduled time or the allocated budget, proper written communication must be provided to the producers concerned, along with appropriate reasons for the delay or budget overrun".## Apart from the aforementioned rules, FEFSI has also insisted that "if the director is the writer, then he has to take responsibility in case of story ownership issues, and the issue should not affect the producer or the film". ## It is said that members of the FEFSI faced difficulties in finding employment as Tamil films frequently cast stars and actors from other industries. The organization also stated that any violation of these rules will result in disciplinary action being taken.## However, the new rules by FEFSI have invited controversy as Tamil, as well as other industry filmmakers, are slamming the board for the same. Malayalam filmmaker Vinayan, who has also worked in a few Tamil films slammed new rules. ## He wrote in a Facebook post, "While we see India as a single nation, Tamil Nadu film associations are headed in the direction of a highly localized decision in a place where it is believed that all Indians are brothers and sisters. This news has been out for a while but we have not seen the Tamil Nadu government opposing the decision". ## He further added that this separatist move should not be allowed to grow and that no one can curb Indian artists to work in any state and any language. The maverick director is currently busy with the pre-production work of the highly-anticipated "Singham Again", fronted by Ajay Devgn. ## According to Pinkvilla, Tiger has been roped in to play a cop role in "Singham 3". It will be a cameo appearance for the actor who is the latest entrant in the much talked about cop universe. The "Heropanti" star will be joining the lead actor Ajay Devgn along with Akshay Kumar, and Ranveer Singh who will reprise their roles as Sooryavanshi and Simmba, respectively as extended cameo appearances, in the first schedule.## "It's a schedule of combination dates with Singham, Simmba, and Sooryavanshi. He will play a merciless baddie in the Siva-directed film and will start shooting for his portions in Bangkok next month. ## "Kanguva", which is a period action drama film, is one of the most-anticipated Tamil movies. Produced by Studio Green and UV Creations, the movie has Disha Patani as the female lead, making her debut in Tamil cinema. ## The makers recently unveiled the first look glimpse of "Kanguva" which got a blockbuster response. Tokyo, July 25 - Telugu superstar Ram Charan's period action drama film "Rangasthalam" has crossed 1 crore at the Japanese box office after the second weekend. Directed by Sukumar, the movie was released in Japan on July 14, more than 5 years after its original release in 2018.## "Rangasthalam" has taken a decent start in Japan with ¥10.1 million or approx. 60 lakh in the 3-day opening weekend before ending the full week with ¥16.4 million or 95 lakh. In the second weekend, the movie scored ¥4.4 million (25 lakh) and took the total collection to ¥20.80 million (1.20 crores) so far.## Interestingly, Ram Charan's last release "RRR", which also stars Jr. NTR and is directed by Rajamouli, scored ¥18 million on its opening day in Japan last year and went on to finish over a historic ¥2 billion (approx. 125 crores) and is the highest-grossing Indian movie there.## Produced by Mythri Movie Makers, "Rangasthalam" was an industry hit during its release in 2018 in Telugu. It grossed over 200 crores at the worldwide box office and became the highest-grossing film in Ram Charan as well as Samantha's career.## Meanwhile, Yash-fronted "KGF" films were also released in Japan last week and have also crossed 1 crore and have grossed in a similar range as "Rangasthalam". In the first 10 days, "KGF 1" and "KGF 2" have grossed approx. JPY 20 million combined (JPY 10 million each) at the Japan box office.## Directed by Prashanth Neel, the two KGF films grossed approx. 1450 crores at the worldwide box office in their first runs. The duo created magic with the "Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2" last year with a worldwide gross collection of over 260 crores before producer Bhushan Kumar of T-Series officially announced "Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3". ## Now, according to Pinkvilla, the shoot of BB3 will commence in February 2024 and it will be hitting theaters worldwide on Diwali later in the year. "Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 is in the scripting stage at the moment and the team has locked the basic plot for the third part of this iconic horror comedy franchise. One of the most anticipated box office clashes is going to happen between the two sequels to the highly appreciated and successful movies, Sunny Deol-fronted "Gadar 2: The Katha Continues" and Akshay Kumar's "OMG 2". ## Anil Sharma's directorial "Gadar 2" is the sequel to the all-time blockbuster "Gadar: Ek Prem Katha" (2001) while "OMG 2", directed by Amit Rai, is the successor of "OMG" (2012). We need to believe in our stories and tell them to our audience".## The actor further said that the media shouldn't compare movies if they are coming on the same day. He recalled how "Gadar" was run down completely but emerged as a people's movie and grossed over 100 crores worldwide despite clashing with Aamir Khan's "Lagaan" which was hailed as a classic blockbuster.## "Gadar did Rs 100 crore plus, while Lagaan did much less. I don't understand why people compare – whether it's from the business or likeability point. Gadar didn't have the perception, people thought it is this masala film and is an old sort of film with old songs".## "On the other hand, people thought Lagaan was classic, etc. The so-called people who talk about films had run down Gadar completely. It went on to become a people's film, and they loved it. At award shows, I remember that they made a spoof of Gadar, but we weren't bothered by it. It has happened with some of my other films too, like Ghayal and Dil, which clashed. Nitesh Tiwari's directorial, which was originally hyped as a theatrical release, debuted directly on Amazon Prime Video on July 21. ## Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, "Bawaal" opened to mixed reviews from critics and mixed to positive responses from digital audiences. Amazon Prime Video made it available to stream in over 200 countries, making it one of the widest digital releases ever for Indian movies. ## According to Ormax Media, a media consulting firm, "Bawaal" scored 6.9 million views in its first three days, and was the 3rd most-watched Hindi title in India across OTT platforms in the week of July 17 - July 24. The 6.9 million views are estimates based only within India as Ormax doesn't track international streaming data. ## Meanwhile, as per a recent report, "Bawaal" was sold to Amazon Prime Video for 120 crores while the budget of the film is believed to be 80 crores. Hyderabad, July 24 - According to the new rumours, superstar Prabhas' much-awaited Pan India sci-fi epic movie "Kalki 2898 AD" aka "Project K" has been postponed from January to summer 2024. The movie is directed by Nag Ashwin and produced by Vyjayanthi Movies. ## The title of the movie was recently unveiled at San Diego Comic-Con event with the first look glimpse. The title has been kept after one of the names of Lord Vishnu as the movie is a mixture of mythology and science fiction. ## Earlier this year, makers announced that "Kalki 2898 AD" would be released on January 12, 2024, in multiple languages worldwide. However, the shoot of the movie is still going on which led to speculations to its postponement. Now, as per a post by the industry tracker Manobala Vijayabalan, makers are planning to release the movie on May 9, 2024, worldwide.## The new rumored release date is in line with some of the recent reliable reports stating it would be released in the summer of 2024 only as the movie will require at least 3-4 months of post-production work.
