Box Office: Kartik Aaryan's 'Chandu Champion' Scored A Low First Week

Mumbai, June 21 - Kartik Aaryan-fronted biographical sports drama Chandu Champion has had a low first week, scoring 35+ crores net collection. The first-week collection of the movie is lower than the 2 weeks old horror-comedy Munjya's opening week collection which pretty much tells the story. ## Directed by Kabir Khan, Chandu Champion opened to positive reviews and word of mouth but things didn't go the way makers would have hoped for after receiving rave reviews, and as a result, it performed below the expectations. ## Post the COVID-19 pandemic, Chandu Champion has had the second lowest first-week scorer for Kartik Aaryan, ahead of just Shehzada which minted approximately 27.35 crores net first-week and 32 crores lifetime collection. Box Office: Munjya Tops Bhediya To Become Second Highest-Grosser In Maddock Films' Horror-Comedy Universe

Mumbai, June 21 - Director Aditya Sarpotdar's horror-comedy Munjya has become the second highest-grossing film in Maddock Films' horror-comedy universe, behind only Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao's Stree. ## The fourth film in the horror-comedy universe, Munjya has scored approximately 68 crores net collection in 2 weeks (14 days) and it will be crossing Bhediya (69 crores net) today to become the second biggest grosser in the series. Stree is currently on top with approximately 130 crores net. ## Munjya has had an excellent hold in the second week, dropping just 7.50% from the first week for approximately 32.65 crores net, despite the release of Kartik Aaryan's Chandu Champion which is a much bigger movie in terms of scale, budget and star power and also with positive reviews and word of mouth. ## The Abhay Verma and Sharvari Wagh-starrer are expected to remain strong in its third week in the absence of notable releases. Bombay High Court Allows Release of Annu Kapoor's 'Hamare Baarah'

Mumbai, June 19 - The Bombay High Court has allowed the release of Annu Kapoor's Hamare Baarah after the makers agreed to delete some objectionable scenes. The movie, which was supposed to be released on June 7, will now hit screens on June 21. ## According to Bar and Bench, a bench of Justices BP Colabawalla and Firdosh Pooniwalla watched the film and suggested changes which both the moviemakers and the petitioners agreed to. ## The court, after a thorough review, also said that the movie did not contain any objectionable content against the Quran or the Muslim community, instead, the court found the movie to be aimed at the "upliftment of women", according to NDTV report. ## "The movie is in fact for the upliftment of women. The movie has a Maulana misinterpreting the Quran and in fact, one Muslim man objects to the same in the scene. So this shows that people should apply their mind and not blindly follow such Maulanas", the high court said. ## Meanwhile, the court imposed a fine of Rs. 5 lakh on the makers of the movie for releasing the trailer before getting CBFC certification. The fine is to be donated to a charity of the petitioners' choice. "Violation was there vis-a-vis the trailer. So you will have to pay something towards a charity of the petitioner's choice. The cost will have to be paid. This litigation has got the film so much unpaid publicity", the court added.## Hamare Baarah is directed by Kamal Chandra and it also stars Rahul Bagga, Manoj Joshi, and Ashwini Kalsekar, among others. Mumbai, June 19 - Director Rajesh A Krishnan's Crew has become the most-watched Indian film of 2024 on Netflix, surpassing the total reported viewership of Aamir Khan's production venture, Laapataa Ladies in just 24 days. ## The heist comedy, starring Tabu, Kareena Kapoor, and Kriti Sanon, Crew added 1.2 million views from June 10 - June 16, taking its total views to 17.9 million in 24 days. Laapataa Ladies had scored 17.1 million views during its stay in the top 10 on Netflix and is now the second most-watched Indian title of the year. ## Crew premiered on Netflix on May 24 after completing 8 weeks of the theatrical run with over 150 crores in gross collection at the worldwide box office. Mumbai, June 18 - Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan and director Kabir Khan are discussing a possible collaboration. Hrithik is currently shooting for YRF's Biggie War 2 with director Ayan Mukerji and the shoot for the same is nearing completion. ## According to the report by Peepingmoon.com, Hrithik has already started looking for his next film and is in talks with Kabir Khan for the same. "Hrithik and Kabir are discussing several ideas and have met multiple times over the past few months. Mumbai, June 15 - After the low start, Kartik Aaryan-fronted Chandu Champion shows a much-needed growth of around 40% on its second day which is a good recovery but the overall collection is still not big enough to cover the lost ground. ## Kabir Khan's directorial benefits from positive word-of-mouth as it collects around 6.50-7 crores net on its first Saturday, as per early estimates. Ideally, this should have been the opening day figure to set the tone for a good opening weekend but that is not the case. ## Chandu Champion's total collection after 2 days is around 11.50 crores. It can still manage to score a decent weekend if it can see a similar or better jump on Sunday which is very much possible given Monday is a holiday. The 3-day opening weekend is heading for 19-20+ crores while the extended weekend could be around 25+ crores. ## The positive word of mouth is clearly showing its effect but the real test for the movie will begin after Monday Bakrid holiday. Sunny Deol's 'Border 2' Official Release Date Is Locked

Mumbai, June 14 - On the 27th anniversary of the epic war drama Border, filmmaker JP Dutta joined hands with Bhushan Kumar of T-Series to announce its sequel with Sunny Deol returning to reprise the role from the first movie.## Kersari fame Anurag Singh will direct Border 2 which begins filming by the end of this year or early 2025. Makers Unveil First Look Poster of Akshay Kumar From 'Sarfira'; Re-confirm Release Date

Mumbai, June 14 - Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar teamed up with Tamil director Sudha Kongara for the first time for drama Sarfira, which is the Hindi remake of Tamil movie Soorarai Pottru. Akshay plays the role played by Suriya in the original movie. ## On Friday (June 14), the first look poster of Akshay Kumar was unveiled and with this, the makers re-confirmed the release date of the film which is July 12. Maddock Films Advances Shraddha Kapoor's 'Stree 2' On Independence Day 2024

Ajay Devgn's 'Singham Again' Locks Diwali 2024 Release

Mumbai, June 14 - Director Rohit Shetty and Bollywood star Ajay Devgn have locked the Diwali 2024 release date for his highly-awaited action drama Singham Again after postponing it from Independence Day weekend. The makers announced the new date a day after Ajay Devgn confirmed the movie wouldn't make it to the August 15 deadline. ## Produced by Rohit Shetty Picturez with Reliance Entertainment, Jio Studios, and Devgn Films, Singham Again was supposed to clash with Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2 - The Rule on this Independence Day weekend but now both movies have been pushed back, however, new release date of Pushpa 2 is not yet locked. ## Singham 3 will now clash with Kartik Aaryan's horror-comedy Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 which is already scheduled for Diwali release. Box Office: 'Munjya' Score Fantastic First Week

Mumbai, June 13 - Producer Dinesh Vijan's horror-comedy Munjya ends the opening week with a fantastic collection of over 35 crores net after the miraculous trend during the weekdays with almost no drop from Monday - Thursday. ## The Aditya Sarpotdar's directorial movie cleared the 35 crores mark after scoring an estimated 3.75-4 crores net on its first Thursday. Interestingly, or rather incredibly, the collection of Munjya remained in the range of the 4 crores mark which indicates a long run for the movie at the domestic box office. ## The opening week collection of Munjya is the 7th biggest first week total for a Bollywood movie of 2024. It is expected to remain strong in the second week despite the arrival of Kartik Aaryan's Chandu Champion and will aim to reach 50 crores mark by the second weekend itself. ## Munjya is the 4th movie in Maddock Films' horror-comedy universe after Stree, Roohi, and Bhediya and is currently the third highest-grosser in the series. Mumbai, June 13 - Bollywood star Alia Bhatt's highly-anticipated action thriller Jigra has been postponed to avert a clash with Telugu superstar Jr. NTR's Devara. Ajay Devgn Confirms 'Singham Again' Postponement Rumours

Mumbai, June 13 - Bollywood star Ajay Devgn has confirmed the rumours about the postponement of the highly-anticipated action drama Singham Again, directed by Rohit Shetty. The actor said that the shoot of the movie is still pending and the team is not eyeing the already announced date. ## Ajay Devgn was speaking at the trailer launch event of his upcoming romantic thriller, Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha, which is scheduled to release on July 5. When asked about the status of Singham 3, the actor said that he doesn't think the movie will be ready by August 15. ## "I am not sure (about the release date). The work on the film, which kicked off earlier, has not been completed yet and a few portions of the shoot are pending as well. We do not want to release the film in a hurry because that often ruins it. So when it is read, we will release it then", the actor said. ## Even though the makers haven't made the official announcement of Singham 3 postponement, the news was almost confirmed with other movies occupying the Independence Day weekend date. Sunny Deol's 'Border 2' Officially Announced

Mumbai, June 13 - Filmmaker J. P. Dutta has joined hands with producer Bhushan Kumar of T-Series to announce the sequel to War epic Border. The movie was announced on the 27th anniversary of the first movie which is one of the biggest Indian blockbusters ever. ## Sunny Deol, who scored a mega-blockbuster with Gadar 2 last year, will be returning to reprise his role as Maj.
