Viacom18 To Pay $20 Million Annually To Warner Bros. To Stream Its Content On Jio Cinema

Mumbai, April 29 - The leading Hollywood studio, Warner Bros. Discovery has partnered with India's Mukesh Ambani-backed Viacom18 to bring HBO, Max Originals, and Warner Bros. content to India through Jio Cinema.## Jio Cinema, which is already taking giant steps in the Indian digital space, has further strengthened its position among other platforms like Amazon, Disney+Hotstar, and Netflix. The deal between Warner Bros. and Viacom18 has the potential to change the landscape of the Indian OTT as Warner Bros. shows are hugely popular in India. ## As per the reports, the licensing agreement with Warner Bros., estimated to cost Viacom18 over $20 million annually, highlights Ambani's growing efforts to establish JioCinema as a dominant streaming platform in India's otherwise crowded market.## The deal is said to be for three years, unlike the previous Warner Bros. deal with Disney Plus Hotstar which was for the longer term. Mumbai, April 29 - The makers of magnum opus Adipurush have unveiled a new motion poster featuring Kriti Sanon as Sita. ## The motion poster contains a couple of different posters which perfectly sum up the situation Sita went through during exile and when Raavan forcefully abducted her and kept her in Lanka, away from Ram. ## In the first poster, Kriti Sanon as Sita standing at a rock with Prabhas' Ram poster in the background. The divinity of the poster is clearly visible and the makers have done well in detailing things. The color grading is also perfect. ## ## The second poster shows Kriti Sanon sitting with teary eyes in Lanka while Ram and Laxman (Sunny Singh) are searching for her. Both posters show the efforts makers have put in to keep the purity of the epic Ramayana. ## ## "Adipurush" is directed by Om Raut and produced by T-Series and Retrophiles. Chennai, April 28 - Legendary filmmaker Mani Ratnam's dream project just getting bigger and bigger as the second part of epic Ponniyin Selvan is off to a flying start at the domestic box office. The first part is already one of the highest-grossing Tamil movies of all time and now, "PS-2" has started very well. ## There wasn't a massive online buzz for Ponniyin Selvan - Part 2, but thanks to the overwhelming response to "PS-1" last year, the awareness among the general audience was there and this was clearly visible on the opening day of the release. ## As per the early estimates, "PS-2" has grossed around 32+ crores in all versions, including 18+ crores in the home state, Tamil Nadu. The first part opened at around 40 crores, including approx. 25 crores in Tamil Nadu. ## The Telugu version too performed decently as early estimates suggest 3-4 crores gross (PS-1 opened at around 5.50 crores) in the Telugu states, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. In Karnataka, PS-2 has scored an estimated around 4-5 crores (PS-1 was 4.10 crores) gross opening. ## PS-2 has brought cheers to the Kerala industry which hasn't had much success this year. As per the estimates, the movie has grossed around 2-2.50+ crores opening in Kerala. PS-1, however, took 3.15 crores opening in the state. Mumbai, April 28 - Earlier this year, it was reported that Vicky Kaushal was roped in to headline director Laxman Utekar's period drama film, titled Chhava under Dinesh Vijan's Maddock Films production. The pre-production also commenced while the makers were in the process to lock the other cast. ## Now, according to Peepingmoon.com, the makers have roped in National Crush Rashmika Mandanna to play the female lead role, making her first big screen appearance with Vicky Kaushal. She has been brought on board to play the role of Sambhaji Maharaj's wife, Yesubai Bhonsale. ## The movie is primarily about Sambhaji Maharaj, the eldest son of the Maratha empire's founder and the great warrior king, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. However, it also features an emotional love story between a husband and wife. Sambhaji Raje and his wife jointly held the throne as the emperor. ## Rashmika, who is actively working across multiple industries, was said to be the only choice of the makers for the female lead role and was locked following her look test recently. The report further revealed that Rashmika will receive voice coaching while Vicky will train for four months to become proficient in sword fighting, horseback riding, and archery for this movie. ## "Chhava" is believed to be the most expensive production yet for Vijan's Maddock Films which has sanctioned a huge budget to make this film a truly visual extravaganza. Mumbai, April 28 - Telugu mystic action thriller film Virupaksha has turned out to be a huge success at the box office. The Sai Dharam Tej and Samyuktha Menon-fronted movie has crossed the 50 crores gross mark worldwide within the opening week and is looking unstoppable despite the new releases. ## Directed by Karthik Varma Dandu, "Virupaksha" is now gearing up for its wide Pan India release in multiple languages. The producer announced today that the movie will next release in Hindi by Goldmines Telefilms, in Tamil by Studio Green, and in Malayalam by E4 Entertainment.## The movie will be hitting theaters on May 5 in the aforementioned languages. 'Ponniyin Selvan 2' and 'Agent' Open To Contrasting Responses

Chennai, April 28 - Maverick filmmaker Mani Ratnam's much-awaited period action drama film Ponniyin Selvan - Part 2 has been released in theaters today, and as expected, the movie opened to super positive responses from critics and audiences alike. ## The film, starring an ensemble cast including Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, and Sobhita Dhulipala, among others in key roles, had early morning shows due to the huge curiosity among the fans and the early responses indicated that the movie has exceeded the expectations. ## Despite being called slow-paced, the critics and audiences are hailing the intense drama and superlative performances of the lead cast. Mani Ratnam has once again done very well with his excellent direction and given enough scope to each and every key character to show their skills. AR Rahman's music seems to be the cherry on the cake. ## Overall, "PS-II" has been able to deliver what the makers had promised, and just like "PS-I", it should also do well at the box office. ## Quite contrasting to "PS-2", the long-awaited Telugu movie Agent starring Akhil Akkineni and Mammootty opened to forgettable responses from critics who are calling it one of the poorest films of the actors and director Surender Reddy. The audience response is also not encouraging which has made it tough for the movie to survive. ## "Agent" has been in production for the last three years as it got delayed multiple times due to the covid-19 pandemic. Unlike the response to the movie, the teaser and trailer got a good response which generated decent hype for the movie but the final content couldn't justify the sort of pre-release expectations it had, as per audience response. ## It is not that all is bad for the movie as the performance of Akhil and Mammootty is getting praise, but again, other departments didn't stand out. As per critics' reviews, the movie is let down by the poor writing, direction, and mindless over-the-top action. ## Overall, "Agent" has failed to make the long wait worth it, and it will find tough to get going at the box office. RSVP was on board to produce this mega-budget movie. ## However, the movie has been in trouble which eventually led RSVP to back out as the studio was unable to allot the huge budget Dhar was asking for. Vicky Kaushal too left the movie due to his other commitments. Just when the movie was on the verge of getting shelved, Dhar tried to revive the project by offering it to Ranveer Singh by bringing Jio Studios on board to produce. ## Well, it seems the movie is still not finding its place as the latest reports state that Jio Studios too backed out, and the movie has been shelved for the time being. According to Peepingmoon.com, the studio didn't approve the budget Dhar was asking for as there is a risk involved in making films with huge budgets in the post-pandemic times. ## The report further stated Aditya Dhar has halted the pre-production work and the crew involved with this film has also been relieved now as he understands that there is definitely a big risk with this project. It was recently reported that to get the maximum number of IMAX screens, Paramount considering prepone the release which has now been made official. ## It was reported that Christopher Nolan's "Oppenheimer", which is slated for a global release on July 21, has an exclusive deal with IMAX, which is an indication that most of the IMAX screens across the globe will screen Oppenheimer from July 21. ## Paramount boss Brian Robbins made the announcement of the release date change while closing out Paramount's CinemaCon 2023 slate presentation. This is not the first time when Kartik had to respond to the rumors. ## It is reported by many leading media outlets that the "Tezaab" remake, which was first offered to Ranveer Singh, would be headlined by Kartik. Bollywood Hungama reported that Kartik showed interest in doing the film and the makers also wanted him to be cast in the lead roles. ## Kartik, however, has denied such a development stating that the news about him doing the "Tezaab" remake is not true. Mumbai, April 27 - Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor-fronted romantic-comedy Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar has completed 50 days in theaters, a sort of achievement at a time when most of the films are not even lasting one week. ## Directed by Luv Ranjan, the movie was released on March 8 amid a decent buzz. It was touted to revive the rom-com genre in Bollywood which has over the years produced some of the biggest classic rom-com. It was not easy for TJMM to survive as a section of media and audiences were out there to bash it in full force. ## The movie found appreciation among the general audience, who without caring about the negativity thronged to cinemas and made it a box office success. List of HBO and Max Original Shows Coming To Jio Cinema

Mumbai, April 27 - Viacom18 and Warner Bros. Discovery have signed a multi-year deal to bring HBO, Max Original, and Warner Bros. content to Indian viewers via Jio Cinema from May this year. Disney-owned Star TV was the previous home of WBD content, but the deal with Star expired at the end of March this year.## The new landmark deal includes current and future seasons of HBO, Max Originals, and Warner Bros. shows. The upcoming television series will premiere on JioCinema on the same day as the U.S., making them exclusive to Indian viewers. There are a handful of shows which will be available on Jio Cinema from May this year. ## HBO's "House of The Dragon", "The Last of Us", "Succession" and "The White Lotus" will be made available to watch on Jio Cinema along with the returning seasons of "True Detective: Night Country", "Euphoria", "Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty", and "Perry Mason".## The HBO original series including "The Idol", "White House Plumbers", "The Sympathizer" and "The Regime", and library titles "Game of Thrones", "Sex & The City", "Big Little Lies", "Chernobyl" and "Veep" has also found a home at Jio Cinema.## Max Original series including "And Just Like That...", "Peacemaker" and "The Flight Attendant", premieres such as "Dune: The Sisterhood", "The Batman" spinoff "The Penguin" and "Duster", as well Warner Bros.
