RRR Japan Box Office Collection: Clocks A Good Opening Weekend

Tokyo, October 24 - SS Rajamouli's mega-blockbuster RRR has had a good debut at the Japan box office, grossing approx. ¥65 million (Rs. 3.61 crores) in the opening weekend.## The movie was carrying big anticipation among the Japanese audience and the presence of Rajamaouli along with Jr. NTR and Ram Charan further raised the excitement. It opened at Rs. 1.06 crore which is the biggest for an Indian movie in Japan. ## "RRR" did see some growth on the second day for approx. Rs. 1.33 crores, followed by approx. Rs. 1.22 crores on Sunday. It was released on around 210 locations in the country, which is probably the biggest-ever release for an Indian title. ## The opening weekend total of "RRR" is probably the highest ever in Japan as far as the Indian movie is concerned. As said before, it is looking to finish in the top three Indian movies if not the biggest at the Japanese box office. ## Produced by DVV Entertainment, "RRR" is currently the 4th highest-grossing Indian movie of all time and it will remain in that position as it looks unlikely to beat "KGF: Chapter 2" numbers. Chennai, October 23 - After scoring the biggest hit of his career with multistarrer, Ponniyin Selvan - Part 1, Tamil superstar Chiyaan Vikram now joins hands for the first time with director Pa Ranjith for a Pan India film, titled Thangalaan.## The title of the movie was launched today (October 23) with the first look teaser. The first glimpse released by the makers features Vikram as the leader of a clan and the clip also offers a glimpse of Malavika Mohanan who plays the female lead along with Parvathy Thiruvothu and Pasupathi in key roles. Los Angeles, October 23 - Hollywood superstar Dwayne Johnson's superhero debut with DCEU's Black Adam brings a pleasant surprise at the box office, especially after the poor reception it got from critics. ## The film opened at number 1 at the domestic (North American) box office with $67 million in the opening weekend, the biggest-ever debut for Johnson's career as the lead hero. The movie overcome the revised industry projection of $60 million after critics' reviews. ## As per Variety, the opening of "Black Adam" being a superhero movie isn't earth-shattering but definitely a strong knowing it is a spin-off of "Shazam!" which opened at $53.5 million in 2019. "Black Adam" is also the first Hollywood movie since "Thor: Love And Thunder" in July 2022 to open over $50 million domestically. ## For a DC movie, "Black Adam" takes the second biggest opening in the post-pandemic-era after "The Batman's" $134 million in March 2022. The Jaume Collet-Serra comfortably beats the recent DC movies like "The Suicide Squad", "Birds of Prey", Wonder Woman 1984", "DC League of Super Pets" & "Lego Batman". ## At the overseas box office, "Black Adam" came at the high end of industry projections, grossing $75.9 million over 76 markets, for a $142.9 million global start. In India, it grossed $3.4 million (Rs. 28.10 Crore) in the 4-day opening weekend. (1994), which gave birth to the family drama genre. Later, the duo worked together on two more films "Hum Saath-Saath Hain" and "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo" and both were super hits. ## Now, according to the latest buzz, Salman and Sooraj Barjatya are set to join forces for their 5th film. As per reports, the movie grossed a solid ¥18 million (Rs. 1.06 crores) on the opening day.## As per the records available, "RRR" took the biggest opening, beating Prabhas-fronted Saaho which grossed approx. 90 lakh on an opening day upon its release in Japan in 2020. Los Angeles, October 22 - Dwayne Johnson's much-awaited superhero debut in DC's Black Adam met with nasty reception from critics on the review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes with overall critics' score stands at just 44% from 198 reviews while the same is just 30% by 53 top RT critics' reviews.## Meanwhile, "Black Adam's" audience score is more than double that of critics' with an overall 91% from 10K+ ratings while the same is 88% from 1K+ verified ratings on Rotten Tomatoes. This is a massive gap between critics and audience's scores for "Black Adam", however, is not completely surprising knowing the fact that most Comic Book movies have been received in the same way in the past. ## Comic book superhero movies have always pulled large crowds to the theaters irrespective of the critics' reviews and "Black Adam" might be just another film on the list with the mighty support of Johnson's massive worldwide fan following. ## Both Johnson and Warner Bros. are betting big on The Man in Black, and the initial box office numbers are encouraging as well. Both the actors have been in some fine form after delivering back-to-back hits, so the expectations are high for their next films. ## Directed by P. S. Mithran, "Sardar" is a spy thriller film, and going by the reactions from the audience, the movie has been able to leave a mark. The engaging story and direction by Mithran are touted to be the biggest plus point of the movie, and on top of that, the music by GV Prakash Kumar seems to have added more energy to it. ## Karthi is a proven actor and he has once again left a mark in a dual role, as per the overall reactions from the audience.
