"Bhuvneshwar just doesn't want to play Test cricket anymore. That drive has gone missing. To be honest, the selectors don't even see Bhuvi hungry for 10 overs, forget Test cricket. Los Angeles, May 15, 2021: After dealing with the devastating covid-19 pandemic, the world entertainment industries have started to open up slowly. To make the film industry's recovery fast, many states and governments are announcing financial plans to lure more productions. ## California Governor Gavin Newsom on Friday announced a new measure to attract productions to the Golden State by adding $30 million from California's $75 billion budget surplus, to its film and television tax incentive program.## Newsom, who is facing a recall, announced the move as part of his $100 billion “California Roars Back” plan, which he laid out during a press conference Friday afternoon from Sacramento. This move would boost the existing 330 million dollars tax credit program by nearly 10 percent, allowing the state to dole out a total of 360 million dollars annually to qualify film and television projects. ## "This is an opportunity for those productions, TV, and others, in places like Georgia, whose values don't necessarily always align with the production crews, to consider coming back to the state of California", said the governor to The Hollywood Reporter, taking a swipe at the Peach State and its controversial voter law. "And that's what that $30 million intends to do". ## This new plan was applauded by the entertainment industry immediately. According to Los Angeles City's Economic and Workforce Department, the industry brought more than 30 billion dollars annually to California and supported more than 200,000 local jobs before the COVID-19 pandemic.## California Film Commission Executive Director, Colleen Bell said, "Governor Newsom's announcement to expand the film and TV tax credit program is great news for California. The additional 30 million dollars in funding will be allocated to relocating TV series, which bring long-term, high-wage jobs and significant production spending to our state. San Francisco, May 14, 2021: The covid-19 pandemic is really turning out to be a golden opportunity for the digital platforms to grab the attention of entertainment seekers. Amid the OTT giants, Disney's video-on-demand streaming service, Disney Plus, emerged as a winner. ## Disney+, which had just 33 million paid subscribers in April 2020, gained more than a whopping 70 million paid subscribers since then. The streaming giant currently has 103.60 million global subscribers, according to the company's Q2 earnings report. ## While the current number of Disney Plus' subscribers fell just short of Wall Street's consensus of 110 million subscribers, the company has already achieved surpassed its original target well before in time. When Disney+ first debuted in November 2019, the company set a target of 60 to 90 million subscribers by 2024, a milestone, Disney+ achieved before the end of 2020.## The platform now expects to have 230 to 260 million subscribers worldwide by 2024, which will see Disney+ surpassing Netflix, which currently has 208 million paid subscribers. Disney+ launched at the same time as Apple TV+, but it has grown much more rapidly given the available back catalog of Disney, Marvel, and Star Wars content.## Meanwhile, on the other hand, The Walt Disney Co. delivered mixed results in its earnings. As per the report, the company generated revenue of $15.6 billion and adjusted earnings per share of $0.79.
