Los Angeles, May 24 - Disney is gearing up for a potential summer blockbuster in the form of the musical fantasy film The Little Mermaid which is releasing this Friday (May 26) in the US theaters. ## Directed by Rob Marshall, "The Little Mermaid" will be released in over 4300 theaters in the domestic (North America) market, making it one of the widest releases of 2023. ## According to Box Office Pro, the big-budget remake is eyeing to earn a mighty $115 million - $120 million in its first three days (including Thursday previews) of release and $135 million - $140 million by Monday holiday, Memorial Day weekend. ## If the movie opens in the projected lines, it will be the 4th film of 2023 to breach the $100 million mark in its domestic opening weekend, after "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" ($146 million), "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" ($118 million) and "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania" ($106 million).## "The Little Mermaid" is expected to be Disney's one of the most successful live-action adaptations. It is a live-action adaptation of Walt Disney Animation Studios' 1989 film of the same name, itself loosely based on the 1837 fairy tale of the same title by Hans Christian Andersen. ## The film stars Halle Bailey in the titular role, alongside Jonah Hauer-King, Daveed Diggs, Awkwafina, Jacob Tremblay, Noma Dumezweni, Javier Bardem, and Melissa McCarthy. The Lead Cast and Director of The Hindi Remake of Tamil Blockbuster 'Love Today' Revealed

Mumbai, May 24 - One of the biggest Tamil hits of the last year, romantic-drama Love Today is getting a Hindi remake. The Hindi filmmakers continue to invest in remakes despite the fact that most of them are not performing well. ## It was recently revealed that Phantom Studios in association with "Love Today" original producers AGS Entertainment will be producing the Bollywood remake. Now, according to the latest reports, the makers have locked the lead star cast and director for the same. ## According to Peepingmoon.com, superstar Aamir Khan's son, Junaid Khan, and Sridevi and Boney Kapoor's younger daughter, Khushi Kapoor, have been locked in to headline the "Love Today" remake. "Laal Singh Chaddha" director Advait Chandan has been brought on board to helm the Hindi version. ## "The movie is an entertaining look at love in today's technologically advanced world and has very well been adapted for Hindi-speaking audiences. The makers have made several changes to make it a little more mainstream, but the core theme of modern love and the emotional trials of families has been retained as it is", says the report.## The original Tamil movie starred Pradeep Ranganathan (also director) and Ivana in the leading roles alongside Sathyaraj, Yogi Babu, and Raadhika Sarathkumar. Hyderabad, May 24 - Superstar Allu Arjun's "Pushpa - The Rule" has been in production since last year and movie lovers across the nation are eagerly waiting for this film. There have been many reports stating that the movie would be released in 2024 only but there are no reliable reports on that yet. ## As the uncertainty over the "Pushpa 2" release date remains, producer Bunny Vas of Geetha Arts which is the home banner of Allu Arjun has provided some key updates regarding the actor's upcoming films. ## While everyone is expecting "Pushpa 2" to release in 2024, Bunny Vas reportedly said in a recent interview (via Aakashavaani) that the makers are aiming to release the movie in December, most likely on 22nd December this year, exactly two years after the first part was released in 2021 with a few days of difference. ## The shoot of "Pushpa 2 - The Rule" is currently going on at a brisk pace under the direction of Sukumar and it is expected to be wrapped by the third quarter of the year. It is produced by Mythri Movie Makers in association with Sukumar Writings and also stars Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil in key roles. ## Meanwhile, it was recently reported that Allu Arjun has been in talks with Jio Studios and director Aditya Dhar to headline the magnum opus "The Immortal Ashwatthama". Mumbai, May 23 - This year has been very good for Hollywood films so far in India with back-to-back box office hits. The latest in the list is Universal Pictures' high-octane action thriller Fast X which had the biggest opening weekend of the "Fast & Furious" franchise in India. ## The 10th main installment in the franchise, "Fast X" was released on Thursday, May 18, and took a good opening. It got mixed word of mouth but Despite that, the movie witnessed an upward trend over the weekend to score a fantastic 71 crores gross ($8.6 million) 4-day weekend. ## The Louis Leterrier's directorial held well on the make-or-break first Monday by grossing over 7 crores and remained steady since then which has ensured a healthy lifetime gross total in India of the movie. The total first-week gross collection is close to 94 crores and it will breach the 100 crores gross mark during the second weekend to become the first Hollywood movie of the year to do so. ## "Fast X" is the 4th Hollywood hit of the year in India. Earlier, Keanu Reeves's "John Wick: Chapter 4" and Warner Bros. horror flick "Evil Dead Rise" emerged as unexpected box office hits with the former went on to gross over 50 crores mark. Marvel Studios' latest movie "Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 3" is also on course to emerge as a success after nearing 70 crores gross mark. ## As far as the net collection is concerned, "Fast X" may emerge as the highest-grossing film in the franchise in India. Currently, "Fast & Furious 7" is the number 1 film in the series with approx. 108 crores net collection. Akshay plays the role of an Air Force officer while it was revealed recently that Veer Pahariya, the son of renowned businessman Sanjay Pahariya has been roped in to play a key role in his acting debut. ## Now, according to Peepingmoon.com, the makers have also locked the female cast. The report revealed that Akshay's former co-stars Nimrat Kaur and Sara Ali Khan have been roped in to play the female leading roles in the movie. ## Nimrat previously starred alongside in the "Airlift" while Sara Ali Khan featured with the superstar in "Atragni Re". Los Angeles, May 23 - The "Fast & Furious" movies are not going anywhere anytime soon despite the finale of the main franchise.## The 10th main installment of the franchise "Fast X" is playing in cinemas and the second part of it is scheduled to release in 2025. There might be a 12th film in the franchise but that is not confirmed yet but the Fast family will continue to entertain the audiences. ## Vin Diesel, the lead hero and one of the producers of the "Fast and Furious" franchise has confirmed that he already has plans for spinoffs, including a female-led film. "I started developing the female spinoff... in 2017 with other spinoffs, and the sooner I deliver the finale, the sooner I can launch all the spinoffs", Diesel told Variety reporter Marc Malkin. ## Vin Diesel earlier this month teased that "Fast X" might be spread out over three films. It was originally planned to end in two parts but since there are so many characters, Diesel said that "There was no way I can pull that off unless I had everyone on for five seconds. Kochi, May 22 - The 7-years of long-standing record of Mohanlal-fronted "Pulimurugan" finally bites the dust as the latest Mollywood sensation 2018 has become the all-time highest-grossing Malayalam movie at the worldwide box office. ## The all-time blockbuster movie has grossed approx. 137.50 crores in just 17 days, and beats "Pulimurugan's" 137.35 crores (according to Friday Matinee) to become the highest-grossing film in the history of Malayalam cinema. ## The movie, directed by Jude Anthany Joseph, has grossed around 65.30 crores in Kerala, and in the next couple of days, it will become the 3rd biggest grosser in the state.
