Ranveer Singh To Team Up With Shankar For The Velpari Novel's Cinematic Adaptation

Mumbai, November 7 - Maverick filmmaker S. Shankar and energetic Bollywood star Ranveer Singh announced the maiden collaboration last year for the Hindi remake of "Anniyan". However, there hasn't been any development since then and now, as per the latest reports, that film is not happening anymore, instead, the duo will be collaborating on something very big. ## According to Pinkvilla, the super-talented duo will be collaborating on the cinematic adaptation of the iconic Tamil epic Novel, Velpari, which is touted to be the biggest pan-India cinematic event after SS Rajamouli's "Bahubali". ## It is said that Shankar wants to create something very big with the Velpari novel and teamed up with Ranveer Singh for its cinematic adaptation. The novel has everything to offer – from a larger-than-life hero to incredible life lessons, to a heart-touching love story and magnificent visual-effect sequences whose scale will set the next benchmark of action spectacles in India. ## The film will reportedly be made in 3-parts as it is so vast and complex that all the aspects can't be covered in one film. The shoot of the first part is expected to begin in mid-2023 and this will be the biggest film in both Shankar and Ranveer's careers.## Meanwhile, it was recently reported that Tamil star Suriya had bought the cinematic rights to Velpari novel and was reported that he would be playing the lead role with Shankar directing it. Chennai, November 7 - Legendary actor Kamal Haasan made a roaring comeback with director Lokesh Kanagaraj's action thriller Vikram which grossed over 400 crores at the worldwide box office, only the third Tamil movie ever to do so. ## "Vikram" was expected to do well considering the track record of director Lokesh and the star power it was carrying, but it exceeded those expectations and proved to be a bonafide blockbuster. Kamal Haasan has been a legendary figure in Indian cinema but his box office pull was diminishing over the last few years, but the mega-blockbuster success of "Vikram" proved that he is far from over yet.## The National Award-winning actor is setting up his future line-up which is probably one of the best among Indian actors. The actor's long-awaited and probably the most hyped vigilante action drama film Indian 2 with director Shankar is back on track and is currently under production.## "Indian 2" is intended to be the sequel to Kamal Haasan and Shankar's 1996 film Indian. The shoot of the film has seen multiple delays due to various issues and was even on the verge of getting shelved but everything is fine now. Kamal Haasan reprising his role of Senapathy from the predecessor as the movie is eyeing the summer of 2023 release worldwide in multiple languages. ## Apart from "Indian 2", the legendary actor announced his reunion with another stalwart of Indian cinema, filmmaker Mani Ratnam. The duo is reuniting after 35 years for what would be Kamal Haasan's 234th film. KH234 will be produced by Raaj Kamal Films International in association with Madras Talkies and Red Giant Movies. The shoot will start next year as it is scheduled for the 2024 release. ## Kamal Haasan will reunite with Lokesh Kanagraj for the sequel of "Vikram". The timeline of Vikram 2 is yet to be confirmed but it could start production in 2024. Before "Vikram 2", Lokesh has Thalapathy Vijay's next and Karthi's "Kaithi 2" in the pipeline. ## According to the latest reports, Kamal Haasan will be teaming up with director H Vinoth and this could be his immediate next after "Indian 2". Mumbai, November 7 - Director Om Raut's magnum opus Adipurush has officially been postponed to June 16, 2023. The Prabhas-fronted epic was supposed to release on January 12, 2023, but after the mixed reception to the teaser, the makers have decided to re-do the VFX in order to give a complete theatrical experience. ## It is said that that re-do of VFX shots will cost approx. 100 crores more and this will take some more time. At the North American box office, it ended as the 5th highest-grossing film of all time and is only the 6th film ever to top $700 million. ## Overseas, the "Top Gun" sequel has grossed $769.10 million, as per the Box Office Mojo, helping the global gross total of the film to finish at $1.485 billion. It is the highest-grossing film in Tom Cruise's career, surpassing "Mission: Impossible — Fallout's" $791 million. ## The box office biz of "Top Gun 2" got boosted by strong positive word of mouth. The Akshay Kumar-starrer hit the screens on the occasion of Diwali 2021 on November 5. ## "Sooryavanshi" was the first major Bollywood release in more than 18 months and it revived the theatrical biz in Hindi. The film grossed approx. 295 crores gross worldwide, was the highest-grossing Bollywood and the second-highest Indian film of 2021. ## As the film completes 1 year, Rohit Shetty took to social media and reflects on the hardships he and the team faced due to the covid-19 pandemic. "In 2019, I took the biggest risk of my life by holding its release for two long years but thanks to all your love, the risk paid off!!", he wrote in an Instagram post.## "Sooryavanshi became the biggest box office hit of the year 2021 (that too at 50% occupancy) & the most-viewed film on Netflix!", he added.## Rohit Shetty further said that "Sooryavanshi" shall always be a special film for him and it helped the Hindi film industry on various fronts. Bengaluru, November 5 - The makers of the Yash-fronted "KGF" franchise have filed a case against Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Supriya Srinate, and Jairam Ramesh for using KGF songs in their Bharat Jodo Yatra without getting permission, according to India Today report. ## The case has been filed by MRT Music, a Bengaluru-based music label, which owns the music rights to this blockbuster franchise. ## The Congress members have been accused of copyright infringement and in its complaint, the music company said it invested huge sums of money to acquire the rights of the songs of the South Indian super-hit film KGF 2 in Hindi.## According to MRT Music, the Congress has picked up songs from the movie without seeking its permission and has used them to create marketing videos for the Bharat Jodo Yatra featuring Rahul Gandhi. Mumbai, November 5 - The makers of Prabhas-fronted magnum opus Adipurush released the teaser of the film on October 2 with much enthusiasm only to get criticism from critics and audiences over its poor VFX. ## The makers did manage things by showing the teaser on the big screens and were able to make people change their minds, but other controversies around the characterization of Ramayana's character really pushed the makers back, but again, they somehow managed things by telling people about their vision. ## Directed by Om Raut, "Adipurush" is currently slated for January 12, 2023, release, but as per the recent reports, the makers were left with no choice but to postpone the film to the summer of 2023 as there are a number of big releases on Sankranthi festival and they don't want harm the film's box office potential. ## Now, according to LetsCinema, the real reason for postponing the film was indeed the criticism of VFX shots. The makers are reportedly under pressure to re-do the full VFX which will approximately cost Rs. 100 crores more.
